I've hesitated to post, partially because I rarely partake in social media trends, but also because
1) I feel the burden is too often placed on the oppressed to explain their oppression to their oppressors to legitimize their experiences (this movement asks women to publicly share their experiences instead of men to publicly admit their despicable actions). 2) I had this sense that my experiences aren't "bad enough" to count, even though I know that's totally and completely invalid. All experiences are valid. The personal is political. Sexual harassment, catcalling, and microaggressions all contribute to the larger structures of rape culture that objectify femme bodies and perpetuate the use of sexual assault as a means of enacting masculine power and dominance.
So here I stand with likely every other femme-bodied person (and many others !!) saying me too.
Also let's remember that this movement was originally created by Tarana Burke, a woman of color, over 10 years ago, even though Alyssa Milano began this recent resurgence of its use !!! We cannot change the future without a recognition of our history !!! ALSO, let's take a second to appreciate this beautiful illustration by the always talented @quietcreature featuring a chick with pink hair 💕👩🏼‍🎤💕

went for one of the longest runs I've been on in a while this evening (after staying inside to eat marshmallows & hide from the cold last night). It still wasn't very long, as I'm very untrained with running at the moment, but it felt gooood. That's one thing I'm looking forward to about being done with that grad school life in the spring, more time for long runs (aka finally getting around to an half marathon & marathon) (& reading for pleasure omg !!!) 🙃 #EPBfit
changed up my regular weekly push, pull, lower body split today messing around with pull-ups, rows & presses on the landmine, battle ropes, and kettlebell single-leg deadlifts. random workouts like this are key for me because I get bored easily with strict routines 🤷🏼‍♀️👩🏼‍🎤🏋🏼‍♀️💪 #EPBfit

Okay, those who know me, know that I love my birthday a littleee too much (I call it my favorite holiday & start telling people a month in advance that it's coming up 🤷🏼‍♀️💁🏼👩🏼‍🎤), but one of the genuine reasons I love it so much is because of how lucky I am to have such amazing & loving friends & family who make me smile so much every day of the year & especially on my birthday. Thank you all sooooo much for putting up me me year-round & thank you to those who brightened my day who wouldn't fit in this post as well 💕🎂🎉
