What a day! A definite top five for Colin behind his wedding day, open day at the tram museum and the day-cum-week he discovered YouTube.

The sale at David Jones was just the start. 50% off shirts and 30% off hats, Colin's highlight was 45 minutes pretending to be a mannequin.

Colin loved YouTube but still doesn't quite grasp the concept. He fully expected to see his video on their despite not filming, let alone uploading his stunt.

It wasn't going to win awards but it was a 'nice' shot. In her mind, a 52 perhaps?

He continued to flick the water with his hand as she dreamt of a impacting caption. He was winning points with every splash that reached the statues, she was amassing hashtags by the second.

She got more than 52 likes on this shot thanks to the #MySonFellIntoTheFountain hashtag.

Not that anything else had, Troy's salary hadn't kept up with Sydney's rising property prices. Although flickering over the years he didn't let a mere sense of impossibility stop the great Australian dream in his life.

Moving away from his mother, the journey started in 2002, renting a small unit while saving for a deposit. His savings made his first property purchase possible in 2007. Every time he locked the door (and he needed to in the area he could afford), he stood a little taller - a proud young man wearing a metaphorical 'property owner' badge.
For 10 years he'd been living in a one bedroom unit dreaming of a white picket fence and a sprawling yard. The latter was never going happen (Troy's not a millionaire) and he'd settled for a standard brick fence but he'd achieved his goal - a house (albeit a tiny townhouse) in Sydney!

A twisted sense of manhood, Troy's first order of business was to ask strata to cancel the lawn mowing service. He remembers his mother's words as a young teen and 'man' of the house - "Mowng is a man's job". He wasn't going to let another cut his grass.

The culmination of a journey spured by a goal and littered with the strain of saving money and cutting corners, Troy mowed his lawn, his t-shirt like peacock feathers.

Troy invited his mother around to see the new place. Piling praise on top of praise, it shouldn't have mattered but all Troy remembers was his mother's words... "Real men don't use electric mowers". #realpeopleinfictionalstories #sydney #scenesofsydney #mowing #men #manhood #positivity #negativewords #man #property #sydneyrealestate #realestate #picoftheday #insta_series #instagood
It never used to be an issue but Graham hates small talk. In fact, he's developed a distaste for all face to face interaction.

Whether a result of simple nerves or the birth of 'Ginvisible', his online gaming personality, he's pulling out all stops to avoid conversations today.

Graham (aka Ginvisible) just leveled up his incognito gameplay.

He pulled his favourite black t-shirt over his head and stared at himself in the mirror. Today will the day that I ask.

Now on the platform he found himself substituting small talk in their presence. He was desperate for the answer one way or another but was too nervous to ask. What if they brushed me off , I'd be lost.

Then Brett felt the rumbles of the train approaching the platform and thought, it's now or never. He leant in a little closer and asked... How does your beard grow so thick?

The history and origins of the phrase isn’t entirely clear but Wesley has been spreading his entire life. Blessed and cursed with the ability to ‘never forget’, Wesley’s on the campaign trail – his destination, a community that welcomes discussions on mental health.

He can’t do it alone, obviously, he needs your help. October is Mental Health Month, take a moment visit his website bit.do/elephantintheroom and start talking.

1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental illness this year, it’s time we talked about mental health, the elephant in the room.

They had the wharf to themselves, the sun was fading, the mood was perfect... It was now or never.

They'd been together for about a year and everything was going great - he still couldn't crush his nerves. Starting with I, he stuttered before reaching love, and mumbled through you.

Silence.

Devestated, he turned to his phone as a distraction. As if by consolation she offered the second best three word sentence one could hope to hear... Instagram that sh*t!

Most think it started when his son was born but those close to him know it started well before that.

At the age of six, Geoff's mother said he wasn't allowed to grow his hair long. At the age of 11 he broke his leg in three places and doctors said he'd never ride again. And when his marriage fell apart, the courts said he wasn't able to look after his kids.

Geoff takes offence to being told he can't do something. His mother is no longer with us, his pony tail is a tribute. And he takes great pleasure in riding with his son, and more so, doubling him when jnr gets tired.

He changed his name to Clark a few years back but it didn't help. No matter how hard he tried, he wasn't Superman.

He doesn't have his strength or ability, and he certainly doesn't have Superman's endurance. Clark (known as Chaoxiang to his mother) doesn't even have the glasses, so is at the mercy of his own digits as he sleeps.

They both had a thing for black clothing, so the outfit was excusable but Brendan stopped mid ice cream. The outfit, scarf and now identical ice creams. His mateship with Chris had become idolatry.

The sun was shining, the city crowds were surprisingly manageable and they'd somehow discovered an unmetered parking spot on an in Sydney's CBD. Stumbling across the National Geographic photography exhibition was just a bonus in an already great day.

Fiona was in awe, she couldn't grasp how the photographers could be in that very moment. Wanting to digest every detail, each image was harder to move on from than the next.

Frank wasn't in the same headspace. He thought his photo of Fido, his uncle's cattledog, wouldn't look out of place.

Trapped between euphoria and "I just put on my stretchy pants after Christmas lunch", Chris was thanking God it was Friday.

Monday was a three coffee day, Tuesday was full of meetings (and sugary lollies), Wednesday's cravings included Vegemite at all three meals and a client lunch dragged on yesterday resulting in too many beers, a late finish and takeaway Chinese.

Chris knows it stinks, and after living on the bench overnight, it tastes just as bad but he's smashing leftover Chinese for breakfast.

His thighs were hotter than the cooling tyres. After turning back home to put on a shirt that matched his helmet, only seven minutes remained to complete what would normally be a twelve minute ride.

Andrew thrust his feet at the pedals, pushing fear out of his mind and his wheels in motion.

He replaced his customary wave and passing small talk with Mrs Agnew with a more regulation head nod and stormed down Forest Rd. Approaching the corner of Forest and Oak, Andrew spied the white house on the corner with immaculate lawns. Due to a lack of fencing, there was an opportunity to cut across the front yard but it was one he'd never considered out of respect to the lawns. Respect wasn't an option today. Andrew tore across the lush green lawn, clearing garden gnomes from his path.

Glancing over his shoulder, he saw two destroyed gnomes and tire marks carved deeply into the lawn but his guilt passed with the flurry of letterboxes he passed.

Andrew took safety in his own hands not waiting for the green signal but held glory aloft when he made his morning train. A twelve minute trip in half the time.

Impressed with his efforts, he sat down and replayed his morning ride in his mind before turning his attention to the crawling train. I could ride faster than this train he mocked.
