Happy 1st birthday to Empty & the Ocean! I love it when people tag me in photos of them diving into this book - like this one from Dalenna in Cincinnati. It is wondrous to see all the nooks and crannies of the map it is being imbibed. What is your favorite place to read? And what is your favorite beverage to accompany your contemplations? #emptyandtheocean
Calliope, the muse of eloquence and epic poetry; chief of all the muses, wisest and most assertive. Mother of Orpheus and Linus. Believed to be Homer’s muse for the Iliad and the Odyssey; invoked by Virgil in the Aeneid and Dante in the Divine Comedy; mother of the sirens, they say if you hear the ecstatic harmony of her call just once you will never be the same.

Pleasantly surprised with mail on a Sunday. Especially when it’s homeschool books! Some Baraka Blue for our poetry tea time, and Signs on the Horizons for a study of Saintly men in our modern world. #Barakablue #homeschool #homeschoolpoetry #poetryteatime #charlottemason #charlottemasonliving #charlottemasoneducation

Grateful to build with people who inspire me, not only as artists, but more fundamentally as human beings. It was overwhelming to sit with so many individuals who are not only deeply talented but are using their art as a tool for transformation. Grateful to @imancentral for organizing and always grasping the importance of art as a tool of spiritual upliftment, healing, and social change. #imanartsretreat

Discussing lessons learned from years of walking the path - of Buddhism & Sufism respectively -with my new friend in Preston. We spoke about the metaphysics of physical movement from symbolism of the mudras (sacred hand gestures) in statues of the Buddha to symbolism of the Mevlevi (whirling dervish) ceremony. Also benefited from his level of non-judgement and true acceptance that there are as many paths as there are souls.

“People speak about the power of the evil eye... but what people often overlook is the power of the blessed eye. A gaze from an illuminated friend of the Divine Beloved has the power to transform your inner and outer reality and awaken your innermost heart.” Paraphrasing a wisdom transmitted by Sufi saint Habib Mashur al-Haddad. This picture is of our beloved Dr. Umar Abd-Allah, who was a student of Habib Mashur, and recipient of his gaze. May we all receive the blessed gaze from the friends, for that is a gaze that overflows from the ocean of the boundless source of Love and allows us to awaken more fully to our true nature. And may we be protected from all that dims our light and distances from Love (الودود) and Compassion (الرحمن).
