Ok, so the sunset was masked by cloud; there was a horde of photographers; and I made a few schoolboy technical errors tonight, but K-Bay... oh how I have missed you! Tonight was like reuniting with an old friend, and I hope to get out there a lot more and reacquaint myself with the area!

The safe shot, versus the less conventional shot. There is a reason that most cameras are aimed a specific way. Its tried and tested. People know they will get a good outcome. So take the shot, but ALWAYS look around you at the alternatives. Otherwise you may miss other beautiful compositions. This was shot at McWay Falls, after taking the “standard shot”.

This morning I was scraping ice off car, whereas this time last week I was drinking in the sights and wonders of California. Like this, McWay Falls. Truly amazing place. One I would love to return to!

“Have you ever seen a misshapen cloud?!” ~ Alan Watts

Looked up today and saw this beautiful blanket of cloud. Instantly brought forth the Watts quote and made me think about how we are all looking to be “perfect”, but ultimately what is perfection?! Be who you are, there are no misshapen clouds.

Sometimes you find what you’re looking for in the places you’d least expected it. I had an evening of trying to broaden my photography skills by exploring Bournemouth for abstract architecture images. Didn’t find many, which was a little disappointing, but as I walked into work this morning, I saw this. Different from my usual photo, but I find it interesting none the less. Shot on my phone, to make the most of the opportunity.

The Summer is over. Short and sweet in the UK this time round. But despite losing the sunshine, and long days, it does mean that we won’t have to get up quite so early for sunrises, or wait so long for the sun to set. There are pros and cons to everything in life. Rather than limit yourself with the Cons, look to play to the strengths of the Pros.

I am not usually one for the whole 'I hate Mondays' / 'Fuck Mondays', but this time last week I was down in Cornwall surfing. It was the beginning of a four day surfing and photography road trip, with @phil_hector. Its going to be REALLY hard to go back to work tomorrow, but it helps pay for the fun shit. So keep your chin up!

Just got back from a sweet camping trip through Cornwall and Dartmoor. This is not a photo of either Cornwall OR Dartmoor. But while I sort through the photos to edit, here is an older shot of the Milky Way over Mupe Bay.

Some times the most beautiful scenes present themselves at the most unexpected times, in the most unexpected places. Beauty is all around us if we take the time to really look.

Like Oscar Wilde said, we're all in the gutter, so look up at the stars and take in the beauty of the universe. This was my first attempt at shooting the Milky Way. Well worth the late night!

Saturday night was my second attempt at shooting stars. This was taken from an old Smugglers' Cave over near Mupe Bay. I may have gone a little overboard on the old light painting, but good lesson to learn.

Not quite the lighting conditions I was hoping for, but gives me a good excuse to go back.

I love the Summer. Warmer weather, and longer days is the perfect combination for adventures. It does mean however that sunrises are earlier than before. But totally worth the 5am wake up call, to be greeted by this cheeky little ball of joy peeking over the horizon and through the clouds.

I'm running out of quotes for these photos... This was a good way to start Summer. Exploring the coastline, to find a new spot, enjoying a beer, watching the sun go down to shoot some photos.

We need the tonic of wildness... At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.
~ Henry David Thoreau

Life is like the ocean. It can be calm or still, and rough or rigid, but in the end, its always beautiful.
