...I spy 👁 a handsome man making me dinner ❤️
I’ll let my cousin @aimee_armstrong tell you in her own words 💔🙏🏼❤️❤️#Repost @aimee_armstrong (@get_repost)
This morning I woke up after sleeping for the first time in more than 48 hours and tried to force squeeze my eyes shut so I wouldn’t have to acknowledge this new day. The last time I woke up I was living in a blissful oblivion—life was beautiful, I was surrounded by family and friends doing the one thing I love more than anything....dancing my butt off at a country music festival. Before today, my life has been relatively void of personal trauma and tragedy. Starting today, there will forever be gunshots making up the background beat to my favorite Jason Aldean song. I’m still trying to understand what gave a man, a stranger to me, the right to take what I woke up with on Sunday away from me today. I don’t know if I’ll ever understand. As I lay here reluctant to start today, my heart aches like it has been wrapped tightly a million times with a rubber band for my brother, his fiancée, and our family that has lost a sister, a daughter, a cousin, a granddaughter, a niece and a friend.
. . .
By some miracle which I will never understand, I am here to start a new day. I owe today to Ralph - the medic who made it his mission to reunite me with my brother at the hospital after 4 hours of lockdown, to the lady who brought me apple juice and sat on the bathroom floor with me coaching my breathing so I wouldn’t pass out, and to my friends and family for the outpouring of love and support from around the world.
It’s hard to put my feelings or experience in to words right now, but my hope is that today will also start the healing process for me and the 22,000 members of my country music family and their family and friends affected by this horrible massacre on innocent human life. I hope the impact of this all to real tragedy which will haunt my memories forever isn’t forgotten tomorrow by the rest of the world. We love you Andrea, and I’m so sorry that we couldn’t save you.
