Snuck in a little road trip with my husband recently with four stops along the way. So needed and very much enjoyed. Sometimes life gets too crazy and you can easily forget to slow down, be still and enjoy what's right in front of you. While mowing our lawn I noticed an unkempt shrub looked like it had been partially hedged - I haven't maintained them this winter so I knew it wasn't me. Then I noticed dog wasn't following me around as I mowed (dog loves to do this), instead dog was jumping, pulling the shrub apart stick by stick with a very happy face, too happy, it caused suspicion. I let the mower run and went to see what he was getting excited about. Then I spotted this little possum (nocturnal) trapped on top of one of the shrubs in the sun. Now dog capturing possum would not be pretty, so thought I'd be hero of the day. Got a towel, picked him up (note sharp claws) and thought I'd take him to a tree out back away from dog. Possum was hissing at dog, so I ventured inside thinking I'd grab an apple and then go out back and set him free with some fruit. Didn't go as planned. Loosened my grip while bantering with son to get an apple (son was refusing, telling me to 'get the wild animal out of the house'). Loosening my grip saw possum jump out of my arms and into a drawer before scuttling behind the fridge to curl up near the motor. 😳. Shit. Possum loose in the house, son no where to be seen. Backed a cage up to the fridge and covered it in towels to try and trick possum it was night. Big juicy apple inside to entice. Hours pass, possum hasn't moved. Thought I'd wait for daughter as I'd already got scratched up trying to grab him when he first leapt away. Daughter arrives home, I grab gloves (for her) and she grabs hissing possum while I wait with a towel to wrap him. I fail with my towel maneuver and possum bounds off into her room full of prized paraphernalia and treasured posters. We follow. After a couple of failed capturing attempts he heads towards her desk and starts crawling up. I hear daughter say 'mum my posters', then immediate action follows. It was possum or posters. 😂. Next minute she has him in her gloved hands as she starts yelling at me to open the door (I was videoing). I run to open her door, the back door and the pool gate while daughter storms behind hissing possum in hand before she gets him to the tree and freedom!. Lesson for the day, do not take possum into house.

I have too many photos on my phone, over 32k, I delete and delete and delete but fill it right back up. Ugh. And that's just my phone! Over 200k on my computer waiting to be culled too. I have to stop clicking. Lol. One thing I miss about film, you were pickier with a roll of 36! Then you got them developed and job done. I'm drowning in photos. Hahahaha. So continuing with yesterday's post of Wivenhoe - I could have added a bunch to the other post but that's way to efficient. I obviously prefer drawing things out. Plus it was just a nice place to visit. Might be back for some early morning shots with fog - but that would require me getting up early so I probably won't. The thought is there though. Happy Wednesday people. I've had vertigo-like dizziness for nearly two weeks. It sucks. Like being on a rocking boat I can't get off. Oh well, it will pass. Surely 😬. Till then I can keep posting on IG to keep myself busy ... for at least five minutes. I'll work out something for the other 23 hours and 55 minutes.

A lazy Sunday drive with my husband had us out exploring Lake Wivenhoe and Wivenhoe dam. Another one of those days I just wanted to be out and away from the city and suburbs to have some down time. Fish jumping out of the water, turtles diving and resurfacing and birds singing to each other through the trees. So much more to see of course, but lots of time to explore. Kind of really enjoying rediscovering places near home - spent quite a few holidays overseas over the past few years, which has been awesome, but it also reminded me of all the wonderful places here I've not yet made it too, some I never knew existed and some that I want to revisit and explore with fresh eyes and more appreciation for their greatness. #thisisqueensland #ilovenature #ilovetrees #visitbrisbane #ilovequeensland #brisbaneigers #brisbaneanyday #queensland #discoverbrisbane #picfx #queenslander #nature #naturelover #visitqueensland #visitqld #explorequeensland #travelqld #sky #mountains #daytrip #water #view #views #scenery #trees #wivenhoe

Queens Park, Ipswich. Exploring the Japanese gardens. Ipswich gets a bit of a bad rap but to be honest it was quite cool. Great cafes, nice old heritage buildings and friendly people. So this was pretty cool. Marvel visits GOMA. Day out with my daughter (cause she knows a shitload more then me when it comes to this stuff ... I watch, but she absorbs), like a walking Marvel encyclopedia! I may have been envisioning myself as a super hero! Maybe in my next life. I want a kick butt super power damnit! From a couple weeks back at the Wetlands. I'm sure the last time I visited here was in my teens. But it's foggy, might have been in my twenties. Lol. Either way it's been awhile. Too long I'd say. Kinda take Mangroves for granted and sometimes not the prettiest of trees, but in this case I loved them. So close to home and such a serene part of Brisbane really. Enjoyed a couple of hours strolling along the boardwalks with my husband. Only a few other adventurers out, so mostly we had this place to ourselves. #thisisqueensland #ilovenature #ilovetrees #visitbrisbane #ilovequeensland #brisbaneigers #brisbaneanyday #queensland #discoverbrisbane #queenslander #green #nature #naturelover #visitqueensland #visitqld #explorequeensland #travelqld #sky #clouds #daytrip #water #view #views #scenery #mangroves #mangrove #trees #reflection #water #wetlands

Dear 'In the Sac' linen - I indulged and purchased and I'm impressed - so the reason for this post (which is so unlike the rest of my feed) is to say 'Thank You', not only for a wonderful product but for delighting me with your branding and marketing and for outstanding customer service. The time and effort you put into keeping in touch with a prospective (now confirmed) customer did not go unnoticed. (Ramblings continue...) Over a year ago your Instagram feed caught my eye during some renovations.
I'm from a design background and was especially drawn to the styling and photography of your products, appreciating the time and effort that goes into this on all levels, as I know it's painstakingly meticulous work that requires patience and vision from all involved. So I happily 'followed' your account, commenting here and there with a mention that I was looking at indulging in some linen for our bed. Now in the seemingly normal world of social media (when it comes to dealing with a business), I didn't expect further communication - I'd touched base but not actually bought anything - so I was pleasantly surprised you kept in 'IG touch' - I hadn't been cast aside as a villainous non-purchaser!
As renovations dragged past a year, I still longed for linen (we were renovating rooms not the bed after all) so I decided it was time to purchase. I researched, browsed websites, and read feedback...everything kept leading me right back to you! Your customer reviews continuously rated high on various sites and visually nothing else was comparing to the products in your feed, plus I loved that you took the time to comment on my photos 😉. In a 'follow and unfollow' virtual world, this to me is exceptional as I appreciate personal interaction (especially knowing how time-consuming it can be). So with all that said, I thought it was important to share my praise not only with you - but with anyone else who may stumble across my post - and let you know how much of an impression you made. If any one I know is after linen I will have three words for them ... 'In the Sac'. Oh, and I love the mouse! Like really love it! Thanks again! 😉 #linen #linenlove @inthesaclinen

Woke up Sunday and everything was annoying the crap out of me. Everyone and everything. No reason for it really, just one of those days I guess. So my husband suggested a drive. I begrudgingly went along, sour face and all. We stopped for breakfast, our order was misplaced and so we waited an hour to eat. Ugh! Felt like the universe was against me that morning. Then we drove to the closest body of water. There's much to be said about water, it calms me when nothing else can. At first I was full circle keeping away from people. Chatting and laughing was irritating to hear. Then we took a stroll down here, suddenly my day started to change. I felt calmer, the smell of the ocean was refreshing, a couple greeted us, and I wasn't so annoyed anymore. The walk, fresh air and ultimately happy people enjoying their day rubbed off on me. We continued from here to wetlands not far away. Less people, a new environment and I had gone from sullen to adventure mode. Looks like my husband knew exactly what I needed when I didn't. Love him. #thisisqueensland #ilovenature #beach #visitbrisbane #ilovequeensland #shornecliffe #brisbaneigers #brisbaneanyday #queensland #discoverbrisbane #queenslander #blue #nature #ilovetheocean #visitqueensland #visitqld #picfx #explorequeensland #travelqld #sky #water #daytrip #sky #water #rocks #view #views #scenery #trees #reflection #water #thelocalhunter

As predicted we kind of by-passed Autumn and now here we are in Winter with a slight chill to the evenings and early mornings. Don't get to complain really - international (and interstate) visitors have a little chuckle to what we call winter here in Queensland (guess that's why we're called the sunshine state). But we wait; winter hits and there is some small thrill of excitement that comes with being able to pop on a jumper (cardigan really - not quite cold enough for a jumper; but the word 'cardigan' doesn't sit right with me). So after that very fleeting taste of excitement, I find myself yearning for summer already (even Spring). I don't like the sun going down early (seriously winter, by 5.30pm I feel like it's 10pm, ugh!). I want to feel warm balmy nights again where it's still light in the early evenings, I want to jump in the ocean, our pool and creeks and be revitalized. I like heat - I love the two seasons starting with 's' the best. So I'm going through summer photos to taunt myself - something to look forward to and take a slight edge off winters bite. Plus I miss seeing the ocean in my feed. Might have to start planning my next trip to New Zealand. Just a mushroom. No real story here. I like them - all types. Pretty little fungi. So, up at my parents; took a stroll down to one of the dams, laid near some lovely deposits of cow manure and snapped this lone-standing organism. Oh heck, I'll throw in a couple of cows today too. I love them. Such peaceful creatures. One of them actually put my Dad in hospital for a few months, some serious leg and arm injuries (it was off to be sold), had different ideas though; got spooked going up the ramp, bolted back out and ended up on top of him, wedging him under it and half on the ramp and ground. Wasn't a good day and months after hospital he is still recovering. Wasn't it's fault though ... poor steer didn't know what was happening. So, he's back out grazing with these guys. No sale happened that day! Less than ten kilometers from where I grew up - a view of one of the many beautifully clear rock pools of 'Rocky Hole' running through Neurum Creek in the D'Aguilar National Park, Mt Mee end (formerly Mt Mee State Forest). Some are deep and inviting (you can see to the bottom), some have mini-waterfalls connecting them to the next and others are secluded but you can find them easily by scaling the rocks. They are just stunning. And you know what...we didn't even know they were there! Yep. That's right. No clue. Grew up with these beauties right under our noses and we didn't think to ever explore. So cut to us today heading to mums for Mothers Day, taking a quick detour (five minute drive further up the road to forest entrance then a six kilometer 4WD track) and me being blown away that I hadn't been enjoying this spot for the last 30 freaking years! Going to be making up for that real soon! Still just warm enough to swim, but I'm seeing lots of summery days splashing around here in the future! #thisisqueensland #ilovenature #ilovetrees #visitbrisbane #ilovequeensland ##brisbaneigers #brisbaneanyday #queensland #queenslander #green #nature #naturelover #visitqueensland #visitqld #explorequeensland #travelqld #mountains #daytrip #forest #water #rocks #view #views #scenery #forest #trees #reflection #mtmee #rockyhole #thisisbrisbane #rockpool

Stopped for a bite to eat at The Farm in Ewingsdale. Along with a beautiful restaurant/cafe (they use fresh produce grown onsite), this place also offers and encourages you to explore the land and to gain inspiration from seeing a working farm in progress. Cows grazing in paddocks, old cottages like the one in this picture and the smell of fresh produce growing all around - it was a delight to stop for a bit. I grew up on a farm in my teenage years and was happily rattling of the breeds of cattle I saw around me and the names of some vegetables and herbs that my parents still tend to on their land. It felt like home. I think I took this kind of lifestyle for granted when I was younger and pined for suburbia in my adolescent years. But now I'm thankful that I got to experience life on a farm; especially when I see others marvel at the scenes, animals and even smells that I got to enjoy on a daily basis. I also know first hand the work it takes to maintain this lifestyle. It's hard. But it's rewarding. Definitely stop by in you are cruising past the area and enjoy all there is to offer @thefarmatbyronbay #lifestyle #ilovenature #ilovetrees #vacationmode #farmlife #iloveaustralia #brisbaneigers #brisbaneanyday #farmhouse #queenslander #green #nature #naturelover #visitbyron #explorenewsouthwales #exploreaustralia #newsouthwales #daytrip #view #views #scenery #forest #byronbay #trees #getaway #cottage #thefarmbyronbay

Sometimes you've got to stop and gain a little (or big) perspective. Ha! I'm not being all philosophical here, just really enjoyed this view. We were just driving with destination Byron in mind and taking in all the wonders along the way. I was very impressed with my drivers keen pulling over skills (I marvel at lots of sights and somehow @silvanaabraham knew just when my marveling meant please stop so I can get a photo). She was a perfect puller-overer (not a word I know, but I'll use it anyway). I jumped out of the car, crossed the highway and got as close as I could without breaching fence boundaries (secretly I would have loved to get a little closer, but I respect people's private property plus I was trying to go unnoticed by the dweller zooming around on a little red tractor - and it really was zooming!). So this is it people. A little place along the Pacific Highway in the vicinity of Knockrow. We discovered a place I'd never heard of; I love that about road trips - you can drive the same highway and with keen eyes find something new. #lifestyle #ilovenature #ilovetrees #vacationmode #knockrow #iloveaustralia #brisbaneanyday #accommodation #queenslander #green #nature #naturelover #visitbyron #explorenewsouthwales #exploreaustralia #newsouthwales #daytrip #view #views #scenery #forest #byronbay #trees #getaway #farm #farmhouse #trees #tree #palmtrees #naturelover #pacifichighway #roadtrip #scenery

Yep. Good old Byron Bay lighthouse. For the views I've been here at the break of dusk and dawn, on sunny days and with morning rays. This time with rain and fog and dramatic clouds. While obviously views looking out have been better on other days this time I just enjoyed looking at the lighthouse itself; my first rainy day at Byron ever ... I loved it. I also loved the view of my co- traveller running down the hill towards the car with squeals of 'it's raining!' Hahahaha. For those of you who don't know, Cape Byron Lighthouse is situated on the most easterly point of the Australian mainland; which makes for some particularly impressive views of the coast and hinterland. Don't mind this little spot at all.
