Super sick today, so I'm spending the day in bed drinking vegetables.

Yesterday's drive to work was a pretty one.

5 things you should know about the little boy I nanny on his 5th birthday:
1) If we would let him, he could survive on fruit snacks. 2) He may be autistic, but he's smarter than any 5-year-old I've ever met. 3) If you show him an outline of any of the 50 states, he will be able to tell you which one it is. 4) Sometimes the way he experiences the world can overwhelm him. A two minute long bear hug fixes this every time. 5) He calls me 'Daniel,' and you know what? I'm okay with that. Happy birthday, Liam!

Sundays are for long walks, fresh sheets, bubble baths, and perfectly roasted chickens. Or, at least they should be.
Dreams about my great grandmother are so rare and so special, that I always feel the need to document them when I have one. In one of my dreams last night, I held her, hugged her, and just cried and cried and cried. Pretty true to what would happen if she were to somehow come back, aside from the fact that she was speaking English. I miss you and love you, Nonna. So, so much.

I spent two hours "painting" this today, while thinking about you guys. This whole "social media" thing can feel so bizarre sometimes (so invasive, really), but I'm grateful for all the good it has to offer. I'm thankful that it allows me to see little pieces of your lives, and that I'm able to share pieces of mine with you. I know it can be disconcerting at times when we compare our lives to each other's. An important thing to remember is that filters aren't just used on photos: we get to pick and choose the parts of our stories that we share, and most of the time we choose to make things look and sound better than is true. I think that if we all remind ourselves of this often, we'll be able to enjoy this experience even more. And what an experience it is-- thank you all for being apart of mine. Happy New Year, everyone. I hope 2014 will be brilliant for all of us. :]
According to my phone, I've resolved to take even more shameless selfies. #HappyNewYear #MyMouthNeverShuts
