So I decided to make my own collage of 9 photos that summarise this year. Trips out and about, time with family and cooking. 1) winter at Rowsley, 2) & 8) Birmingham Bear Hunt, 3) Brighton, 4) Brum Xmas shopping, 5) Easter mini egg cheesecake 😋, 6) Nashville concert, 7) Warwick Castle, and 9) Hyde Park for Kings of Leon. Not sure why I never posted pictures from my Berlin holiday... so many good ones I could have selected. 2017 was a busy year... hoping 2018 will be much more relaxing with less time taken up by work.

Afternoon of Xmas shopping, meeting friends and tasty food in Birmingham. Tired out after all the fun... tomorrow will be decorating, wrapping and last minute sewing.

Early morning in Houston.... this may be the best weather we have during the trip. I think yesterday's bucketing rain will return shortly.

So quickly moving on to day 2 of #12daysofbookstagram - book stack. Now this is my bathroom book stack which has books that are all in progress. I love to read in the bath in the evening and I select the book based on the mood I'm in. The Diana Gabaldon is actually finished, I'm so desperate for the next full novel in the series, I leave this in my pile in hope. Dominion is my main bathroom read at the moment, I love C J Sansoms books whether it's the Elizabethan Shardlake series or winter in Madrid. You'll spot some non fiction there too. Picked up 102 minutes at the twin towers museum last year.... so sad, but interesting to read the different viewpoints, I've read a few books with people's eyewitness accounts of the aftermath.

Ok so let's get day 1 of #12daysofbookstagram out the way - current read. I have to be honest I have multiple books on the go but this is my current bed time read. I read Pillars of the Earth with my book club years ago and loved it (much discussion about the sexual assault and how it was written by a male author), loved the second book too so high hopes for this one!

#medicinebirmingham has finally opened their cafe. Didn't have time to try out the cafe but picked up a tasty cronut and cruffin for an evening treat.

A site of so much history... Topography of Terrors in Berlin. On the right a still standing stretch of the Berlin Wall, on the left the site of the Gestapo and SS headquarters. Puts a lot of things in perspective, extremely thought provoking.

@stitchy.stitchy this is for you. You'll have seen the patchwork side of my bed quilt but here's the back of it. I love these fabrics sooooo much. I have some more put aside for future pillows etc.

Day 27 #greatbritishquilter quilt I want to make next. I am planning to make this to hang up in my bedroom. I started making the background this morning. This will take a lot of plotting and planning with the felt pieces ... it's the plotting and planning that I seem to enjoy the most. The hand sewing my fingers may not like .

Day 13 #greatbritishquilter I'm currently making a couple of lazy weekend quilts. Trying to use that fabric stash and have a handmade Xmas. (Noticing my obsession with #annamariahorner fabric yet 😂).

Day 20 #greatbritishquilter longest WIP... I dread to think how many years ago I started making this for my mum. Must be at least 10 maybe 15 years ago. I hand appliqued all those flowers and the piecing is somewhat rough and ready as it was before I had a decent sewing machine, cutting tools etc... and limited experience. It's been waiting to be quilted for a very very long time. I've decided it's time to bite the bullet and get it quilted by someone who can do it justice for me as I will forever keep putting it back in the cupboard waiting for me to pluck up the courage to attempt it .

Day 22 #greatbritishquilter EPP or FPP? Definetly EPP for me. One day I will finish making my version of @imagingermonkey HexyMF quilt (I think that's what it was called - that's what I call it anyway). The trouble is I want it to cover my whole bed plus #annamariahorner keeps releasing more fabrics and I feel I need to keep adding more hexyflowers it's a winters evening labour of love. Soon time to add this years flowers in 😃

Day 30 #greatbritishquilter favourite quilt you've made. I actually like quite a few but the one that's with me every day is the one that I love the most. It's not just how it looks but it's big enough to wrap yourself up in when it's cold 😃

Very tasty treats at #medicinebirmingham today.... we went for a blueberry cronut and a creme brûlée cronut. Both were very tasty 😃

#greatbritishquilter Day 15 - patterned or solid fabric. I think the answer is fairly evident when you look at my bed 😂.

Day 10 #greatbritishquilter my stash of fabric. This is some of it 😳. That big tub is my stash for Anna Maria Horner fabrics. They are my favourite. One of the white tubs has my little liberty treasure trove in it. Most of the tubs have in progress projects in.. I keep the fabrics and in progress blocks etc in the tubs so I don't accidentally use something vital.
