I've hardly taken a photo since getting to Texas. I have so deeply enjoyed the grace and pace of this visit so much. One final meal shared, a long walk in a gorgeous neighborhood beside Rice University, a time of prayer and I'm now waiting to board my flight back to my babies. From 78 degrees to 30 degrees awaiting me. It's all a mystery this life and these beautiful relationships spread around the world. How my heart is splintered in so many ways longing to be with so many people at once. Heaven is sure going to be grand to never say goodbye but to be in perfect love and unity.

I love @dikolabragg home SO much. She has been one of my biggest influences over the last two decades on how to decorate on a dime, thrift, repurpose, yard sale, mix textures, use outdoor elements inside, incorporate antiques with modern elements, slowly curate a room and create the most welcoming atmosphere. There are no significant items of great monetary worth except for family heirlooms but this home is like a favorite blanket with its classic color palette and gorgeous views. Tonight this living room will be filled with women of all walks of life, age and faith. Dikola opens her home for an evening, several times a year, called Rabbit Room (based off the room Lewis and Tolkien used to meet inside The Eagle and Child) We will be discussing the importance of stewarding your story and what does it mean to be a part of a larger story in the Kingdom. Is there a larger story? I get to share about @the_good_story and our time with Roma "Gypsies" and we are watching the documentary "We Are Here." This trip is so refreshing for my soul. I'm so very blessed to have such a strong woman of God to walk beside me in life. Thank you for loving me so well Dikola!!

Waco you were cold and wet but you sure were the loveliest of places for @dikolabragg and I to reconnect over buckets of coffee, Tex-Mex and long walks. Adios ☕️🌯👟

Landed in Houston to visit one of my very best friends in the universe @dikolabragg Gods kindness displayed in so many ways for this to be possible. We immediately road tripped to Waco for a rainy but fun, yummy, eye candy filled time at Magnolias. No @joannagaines sightings but I did indulge in the Cup O' Jo cupcake in place of a hug.

Today we party prep for this beautiful girls 11th birthday tomorrow. A sweet morning pancake party, per her request, with a couple of girlfriends.
Oh Chloe girl, I stare far too long not just at your physical beauty but the grace, patience, kindness and sweetness you so effortlessly and generously exude. We are so very different in the ways we think and go about our days and that used to drive me insane but I'm coming to appreciate your quirky, creative, magically brilliant mind. I don't know why God gave you the mind and the ability you have to retain massive massive amounts of information within it but I pray you use that gift to further His Kingdom in a profound way. You are truly special Chloe. Eclectic children make fascinating adults. I can not wait to keep watching you grow into yourself. May you always keep your moral purity, spiritual sensitivity, and intensely creative imagination. You are a writer in your write baby girl...write!! Happy 11th Chloe Grace you bring so much color to our lives. 🌈

Well Gandalf and Eowyn joined the crew this evening. We didn't even have to do forced perspective with Frodo and Gandalf to achieve the height difference. Came by it honestly 😆. We're tired but it was a super fun day!! Happy 🎃!! #gandalf #eowyn #arwen #legolas #frodo #lotr #lordoftherings #halloween #familybonding

I can't!! Did we win again? We will join this crew and debut our costumes tonight.
This was so much fun sending our Lord of the Rings characters to school today. Frodo, Arwen, and Legolas. If you missed my story of Rhett in curlers last night you need to go have a chuckle. He was proud as a peacock over the curls. Poor Bennett. This was the second Legolas "kids" wig we ordered and he still had a solid George Washington going. Chloe was living her fantasy dream this morning if you can't tell by the dramatic poses all her own. I can't tell you how fun it is to do a family theme. Stay tuned for the full family photo this evening. #lordoftherings #arwen #legolas #frodo #halloween #halloweencostume #familybonding

Happy 39th birthday to the man I love and desire. My laughter and comfort. My peace keeper in the storms, optimist in the darkness, steady in the rough seas. How small our dreams were about the life we thought was ahead together. How naive we were about how threadbare our marriage would become early on. How we learned to fight for the right things on the same side. How deep our joy when we tasted redemption. How good the Father has been to give us a ministry together beyond our wildest imaginations. And so my younger half. Although we spend this day apart we still choose to celebrate you for the wonderful husband, father, brother, friend and mentor you are to so many. Your humility, gentleness, creativity, sense of humor and big giant heart are a treasure. We love you @ryanportnoy

We got out of Dodge on Saturday for a much needed family reconnection in Hershey, PA. We hooked up with two former life group knuckleheads for the BEST day at Hershey Park!!! We rode ALL the rides. Hands down, Rhett might be the most fun person for roller coasters ever. Pure joy. I also rode the fastest start to a roller coaster ever (frame three) with close ups of our thrill faces on fourth photo. Thank you @bgnett and @timaney for all you did to make this weekend possible for us. We needed to laugh and unwind badly and we did that and more!! XO

This may be one of the most important things I've ever had the privilege of working on in my life and I really want to share it!
Do you want to see "We Are Here"? Now you can!
Last Friday evening, with almost 150 people in attendance, we debuted our short documentary about the Roma "Gypsies" and their encounters with the living God. We were blown away by the response and the impact this film seems to be having. We desire to get this into the hands of anyone interested in unreached people groups, small groups, mission pastors, Roma/Non Roma pastors and leaders, ANYONE who desires to learn more about what Jesus is doing in the margins of this world to bring His Kingdom here.
The film is absolutely FREE! All you have to do is go to the We Are Here website ( and request your link to view the film! It's just that simple. You can also find resources, a small group discussion guide, photos, information, the trailer and ways to connect to this movement.

This Friday we are debuting a short documentary on the Roma "Gypsies" that we have been working on over the last year since returning from Hungary. To say this has been a labor of love to get this film completed is an understatement. We want to invite anyone in the Lynchburg area to come to this free screening at Grace Church to learn more about what is happening amongst this massive people group when they encounter Jesus. One of the pastors from the film IS HERE from Montenegro to share after the film.
Details and to RSVP found on the events page. Link in profile. If you can't make the screening we will be releasing a website after this weekend where you can get the film link for free. Stay tuned!! #roma #unreachedpeoples #documentary #indiedoc #missions #independentfilm

Chloe is really coming in handy these days as if she wasn't already. Taken lovingly and carefully by Chloe Grace.
I sure love this man fiercely! We are asked all the time, "How do you guys work together day in and day out and not kill each other?" To be honest, I have no idea some days. It isn't always easy to work out of your home...together...24 hours a day...but the Lord is so kind in that we form a great Venn Diagram of passion, talent, job duties, etc.. that I think keeps each day fresh. He has his own thing, and I have mine and where we meet together is in our creativity and shared vision for @the_good_story
Do we get sick of each others face? You bet ya! That's where Starbucks days come in handy. Do we get sick of the four walls of our home? Absolutely! Lord willing one day we will have an actual office and staff. I can't imagine doing this faith journey with anyone but this man. He is an emotional steady to my ping pong ones. He is creative, humble, funny and great to look at on my "breaks". Thanks for being my forever buddy, stress reliever, best friend and ministry partner @ryanportnoy I love you and your freaky long legs. (Said with a dash of jealousy)

"There is a magic in long-distance friendships. They let you relate to other human beings in a way that goes beyond being physically together and is often more profound."-Diana Cortes
Happy 41st to one of my BFFs @kristie922 Over three years ago this gorgeous soul and friend left my city to move to the Middle East. Nothing has been so easy and so hard to do. Easy, bc it was crystal clear this is what she and her family were created for. Oh how we can cheer obedience of this magnitude! Hard, bc I could not imagine not raising our children, having girl nights, sitting next to each other at church each week and growing in community together would be like without her. A deep ache entered my heart in 2014 that even three + years later has hardly subsided. 👯
I miss her EVERY DAY and yet through the gift of Voxer we talk more than we ever have. We get to the heart of the matter with razor sharp precision. In Gods wild mercy he has let us physically see each other four times in the last three years. Zero of those were planned or known when they left. 👯
And so my Kricket, I raise my glass to you 🍹from Virginia. I'm sure we would be having Mexican or Indian tonight and definitely dark chocolate. We would laugh ourselves silly, for sure cry at one point and always marvel how God brought us together for the last two decades. I'm so glad I gave your overly-perky-brace-faced self a chance in 1998. 👯
Until we're old, wrinkly, can't walk or remember each other's name...I will love you my sweet sister! 🎂

Every Sabbath should be in the mountains. Gorgeous family afternoon at Peaks of Otter Lake. I just love this family of mine. We fished, played games, Legos, read, hiked and picnicked the hours away. Our weird is my favorite weird.

FREE summer to fall change out yesterday. Swipe left. All the cold and rain got me in the mood to darken and bring in texture. Pilfered through my linen closet and stole accessories from other rooms. Changed living room, dining room and my bedroom for free. Feels like a new space without spending a penny. Change is good! Bring on fall!! (** brought up my trusty rug from Kazakhstan I carried back 16 years ago)

Just what we all needed! ⛰ A picture perfect day hiking up to Sharp Top with our sister from another mister @bethanyjoy88 Free therapy and a heart reset minus the fact a bear 🐻 came across our trail in front of us causing Rhett to sit in a fetal position. We all clapped and sang our hearts out all the way back down. I'm happy to report we were not eaten. Bullet. Dodged. 😅

This is for those days you want to quit. Where you cry a lot. Teetering on pity and "get yourself together" inner monologues. It's too big Lord, it's too much, I'm not the right person, this is so hard, I don't think I have enough grit or spiritual maturity.
With prayer, petition and thanksgiving present yourselves to God.
And so we bowed our heads together. Me pressing hard into my husband for his words so I could just cry and let him be the verbal one this morning. Don't misunderstand me. This is the craziest, awesome-ist, "I can't believe this is my life" job there ever was BUT if you've been handed a gigantic vision, an unplowed field of ministry opportunity... you survey that field and realize you have to cut the rows of the soil first. What direction Lord? How big? How many rows? "Just begin Kelly and follow my voice". It's gonna take everything out of you. You will feel like you are failing on the daily, juggling a hundred balls in slow motion. Your strengths will not be necessary many days and your weaknesses called forth and on display. Pioneering is beautiful and hard as hell yet I could weep at the honor of seeing Gods Kingdom in such an intimate way.
Today the Lord reminded me (again) that his strength is made perfect in my weakness. He doesn't need me, he wants me and he created this ministry and these beautiful works FOR ME before time (Eph 2). He desires my holiness and exposing these areas allows me to stand honestly before him and admit my need.
I'm trying to plow this open field alone some days and of course I can't do it. I need my Jesus compass pointing to true North to keep me steady, show me the way. I also needed to be human today and have a good cry. I needed to confess my weary, faithless heart to my Lord who has endless patience and love waiting. I needed the sweet voices of friends far away on Voxer this morning & the knowledge we have a fun date with friends planned tonight. Probably a shower and a third cup of coffee won't hurt.
So if you are a pioneer woman & I don't mean in the kitchen. You're feeling completely wrung out & overwhelmed by your field...take a break, confess, pray, give thanks, & go back to your plow.
