A lot of people tend to be like this, including myself. A repeat violator of this.
But I've been really trying to change this. As I've mentioned before I get my biggest and most gym focused after a break up. It shouldn't be that way though, I need to stay more focused no matter what happens in my personal life.
This goes deeper than just the gym, in regular life as well I've been trying to change this. Tomorrow is never promised. Tell people you love them, tell them you're sorry, spend time with them, do something for someone, do that thing you've always wanted to but been scared, go sky diving, go to a nudist colony, try that new job, visit that other country.. whatever it is, do it. There's no reason to wait until someone is about to pass away to express your love, or to say sorry. There's no reason to wait for heartbreak to get in the gym. Do it today, just because. Do it for them, do it for you. But, #justdoit ✔️

This is so true.
You can't expect different results from the same actions. Change I feel is vital. In the gym if you don't change up your workouts your body can plateau. Change your diet to change your body. The same effort will give the same results. In life it's the same. I felt I needed a change so moved to Vegas. I became too comfortable and complacent in LA. Don't be afraid to shake things up. Step outside your comfort zone. Different doesn't mean bad. Different is just a new opportunity.

I've been trying to keep this page mainly fitness related, but there's so much love and happiness in these pics that I had to post it. Whenever I am down the two things that always make me feel better are the gym and spending time with family and loved ones. The Balance in life.
The gains have remained somewhat loyal.
Summer is just about over. It's been a busy and hectic summer. But the move to Vegas is basically complete. Time to grow and get back to making these gains!

The quote "life begins at the end of your comfort zone" has always been one of my favorite quotes. So after 15 years of making LA my home, I decided to make a move. Going from having a large circle of family and friends all around town, to knowing only a small handful of people in town is a big change. Learning all the things about a new town takes time as well. People can tend to get too comfortable, as I was. I was very comfortable in LA. But was getting into too much of a groove. Had to shake it up a little, trying something new, see somewhere new. You can easily become complacent when in a comfortable groove too long. Start something new, make some new goals, get some new drive. LA I will always consider my home and most likely will be back at sometime... but for now, let's see what Sin city is about 😈

Lol old pictures of me flexing crack me up.
While I'm no where near close to where I want to be right now it's still nice to see the progression. Like I've stated in previous posts, summers are when I always slump. And unfortunately this summer has been no different. It's frustrating to look in the mirror and see all the gains I've lost. To show up to the gym and not be able to lift anywhere near what I'm used to. But even at my smallest these days, I'm still bigger than I was back then. I used to actually like that picture on the left because I thought I saw some gains haha. Silly drew.
Finding new motivation, refocusing, getting back to it. 3 months until Halloween! Lol

Lol kind of funny but kind of true.
I get asked a lot how I find my motivation. By no means am I constantly motivated. But during those times I find a way to get motivated. And it's usually from a "breakup" lol. If a girl broke up with me, turns me down, disses me etc... I've always used that as motivation in the gym. A sort of "oh yeah? I'll show you". And it sounds funny and maybe petty but if it works? Why not. It's more about having a chip on your shoulder than actually finding someone hotter. Although, that does help lol. People use a chip on their shoulder from losing a game, a competition, being rejected, and they turn that into motivation to get better. I do the same, I just am not an athlete anymore so I don't have that same sports motivation. So if a girl turns me down for a date, I use that. I hit the gym, I grind. For that moment when they see me again and say "whoa! You've got bigger" or the famous "hey stranger, how you been?" Text lol.
Find your motivation, whatever it is. A break up, summer body, Halloween costume, a new dress, a new bikini, whatever it may be, and use it! Should that motivation get stale, then find a new one. However small or dumb some may think it is, it's YOUR motivation. Find it, then GET IT! 💪🏼

I want my abs back! Lol

I've been spending most of my time trying to put on size. As a result I've lost my dedication to working on my abs. I used to finish every workout with a 30 min ab workout. Lately, I don't even know when I do that anymore. A lot of the workouts I do incorporate your core, but settting aside time to focus on abs is something I don't do much of. Summer junk food and beers don't help that either. Size is the prize, swole is the goal. But can't forget about getting my abs and lean look back. No steps back, only moving forward.

Considering how hard I've slacked this month it's not too bad.
My annual summer slacking has hit. Drinking and bad food choices. Haven't gone to the gym daily like usual. I usually lose all my gains every summer. I've remained more focused than I have in previous summers. But still not the focus I have during the rest of the year. Hopefully I can remain at least somewhat dedicated the last month of summer and not lose too much gains. Being in Vegas now has not helped lol. But we'll right the ship and be back and bigger 💪🏼

I'm in Las Vegas right now and it's well over 100. I could easily say it's too hot to workout lol. But I've been slacking and need to step it up. Truly the hardest part is actually getting to the gym. Once there, I personally feel great for getting it in. I've never once left the gym and said "I wish I didn't do that workout". So... in a different town.. in 100+ degree weather... no excuses, time to get it in!

Not the size I wanted but this shredding thing has been a struggle for me lol.
Cardio? What's that.
Going from constantly bulking to actually trying to cut has been hard. For one I hate Cardio. To me it's boring and I find myself just thinking about the weights. Eventually giving in by saying to myself "maybe I'll just get a set or two in" and then never going back to cardio lol.
Eating less carbs is tough as well. I don't mind veggies, but when going out it's easy to give into temptation. Especially when drinking. That's definitely hurt the cutting process. Beer + nachos are definitely not going to cut it. Summers have always been my fitness downfall but I'm determined to not lose it and fall off. It's been a struggle, as every summer has for me. But I'm hanging on and going to make a good push. After all, Halloween is right around the corner and I can't be skinny for that lol

Spend twice the amount of time being good on the inside as you spend trying to look good on the outside.

The gym is great for many obvious reasons. Some do it to look good, health reasons, esteem, stress relief, etc.. and there is no wrong reason to go. But as you continue to grow make sure you also pay attention to the person you are becoming on the inside. Some people become arrogant or a**holes as they achieve fitness goals. And it's great to have good self esteem and feel accomplished, But it is not a reason to feel better than others or look down on them. Don't be that douchey guy or girl who thinks they are the sh*t. If you are, no matter how fit or good you think you look on the outside, it is all cancelled out by being an ugly person on the inside.
Help each other, support each other, motivate each other. "The only time you should look down at someone is if you're helping them up"

Fitness is absolutely you vs you.
Probably the toughest sport I've tried. It's not the hour or two that you spend at the gym that makes it tough. It's the other 23 hours of the day. It's the only thing I know that you have to be dedicated 24/7. Your biggest opponent in this will be yourself. Fighting the temptation to eat that pizza, fighting the urge to have the late night ice cream, scheduling consistent gym days and times, pushing through a day when you don't feel like going, sometimes telling friends "no I can't, I have to hit the gym first". No refs, no teammates, this is 100% a battle with yourself. Some days you'll win, some days you'll lose, but so long as you don't stop, you're progressing. And that's a win. .
