Her first trip to farmers market. She loved trying Thai coconut cake, gyro, watermelon juice for the first time. She also thought it was ok to sit on the ground in the middle of aisle while people walked around her or to pick up dirty red straw on the ground.
My favorite at the #YayoiKusama : Infinity Mirrors exhibition @thebroadmuseum. Look at my face with so much concentration. 😄 #bonnietsangatthemuseum
In my fantasy life I have the time and patience to make beautiful pottery, but those are the two things that I lack in reality. So instead, I collect pieces from artists that I admire - like @swsco. (Photo found via @swsco)
Thank you to @flauntmagazine and @thebroadmuseum for last night. Not just for the private preview of #YayoiKusama : Infinity Mirrors exhibition, but a chance to be out and have mother/daughter date with my oldest daughter, @missvenise. We got to have long chat in the car, enjoyed the show together (check my insta-story!) and had a nice dinner. It was much needed and appreciated. #infiniteLA #infiniteKusama #FlauntKusama #bonnietsangatthemuseum
This cornbread @norahrestaurant... So good that I had to tell my husband to stop eating it because we got other dishes coming. Let’s just say I’m way better at disciplining my food intake than him. 😅 #bonnietsanglaeats

🖐🏼 #metoo because I have two daughters and I want to show them there’s nothing to be afraid of to stand up and speak up.

Creativity - one of my favorite subjects to discuss with my friends/colleagues and my husband. Today, I played stay-at-home mom (and the next several days) because my husband @withmartin has few open houses that he cannot be home to help out. On top of still trying to get over a cold, there are two big piles of clean laundry on top of both sofas, we’ve been sleeping in a bed with no bed sheet and then a 13 month old and I got into a heated argument over cleaning her nose. Which got me thinking... we spend so much time being responsible adults that often times our creativity get put into the back burner. Does it happen to you? I wrote down my thoughts and shared few tips on how to make room for creativity - the link is in my profile. Comment below (or comment in the blog post) and share your thoughts and tips, I love to learn what you guys do! #creativity

Coffee and giant marshmallow. 👌🏼
Tired face. I wake up every morning feeling like my body got run over by a bus. Baby Henri gets up several times a night crying for water, my husband and I are beyond tired. And then I caught a cold from wearing too little to bed trying to keep the ✨going with my husband. Adulting isn’t so easy sometimes.
Much needed brunch date @norahrestaurant + alone time with @withmartin today (see my stories for more). Lin, our lovely server asked, “What would you like to drink?” I answered, “We are two very tired parents, so everything.” 😝 She replied, “Let’s start you guys with some coffee, then we’ll ease our way in to some adult drinks.” 👍🏼👍🏼☕️🍹🥂🍸🥃 #bonnietsanglaeats
Pondering on the quote that my husband @withmartin put up last month.
Parents out there, any tips on how to stay awake and alert? // These new chocolate bars from @valerieconfctns (thank you, Valerie!) came to the rescue. Baby Henri decided not to nap all morning (missed two naps already) + she has been waking up every night at every hour demanding water. I can’t even function during the day. 😴 (Sipping coffee and eating chocolate now...)
REFLECTION // Snapped this @poketo while discussing/planning with @angiepoketo and @tedpoketo about my upcoming workshop with them. I’m nervous and exciting because this is the first time I’m teaching a photography class. I always stayed away from teaching photography because I don’t feel qualify. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to tell you anything technical. I’ve used one lens (50mm) all these years for almost everything I shot. I don’t know anything about what ISO goes with which aperture or f-stop. It’s just years of playing around and testing with lighting and subject matter that I know by heart what settings are good. So I would make the worst photography instructor. However, recently I started getting into styling and shooting products and I had SO much fun with it that I just have to share with others all my experience - from communicating with clients, coming up with ideas, getting props to how to frame a shot. While it’s not a technical photography class, it’ll be useful for those who want to do more product shots - rather it’s your own products or for Instagram or to break into product photography. (And then this is when I don’t know how to end a looooong caption properly because I’ve blah, blah, blah so much. 😅) Sign up now! We have very limited seats this time because we want to make it a more personal, one-on-one experience. SEE LINK IN PROFILE.

First year of marriage is hard. Being a mom of a teenager and a one year old is hard. Lack of sleep is hard. Being a business owner is hard. Having anxiety is hard. Struggling with low self esteem is hard. // I generally can handle hard times ok, but when everything hit me all at once in the past few weeks I felt like I got hit by a bus. I just wanted to lay on the ground and bleed to death. Sometimes it’s so easy to let the self go and let it drown in misery. With the added bonus of being an artist, I might even find it tragically beautiful and would linger in that dark place a little too long. As I was laying in bed yesterday feeling numb, I kept asking myself what to do. What to do when giving up isn’t an option? Then a voice said in my head, “Change your attitude! You have to face those situations regardless, so why not face them with a positive attitude? And stop being the victim. Take lead. Stop having a fixed mindset and have a growth mindset instead.” Feeling better today. It was helpful to keep talking to my husband and friends, keep meditating, keep asking questions, and keep searching for answers. The documentary Touching The Void is a really good analogy for me to help overcome anxiety and depression each time they hit. Also, I’m real late to this, but Happier podcast hosted @gretchenrubin and @lizcraft really helped during those long commute when I’m usually alone and in my negative thoughts. Ok, I’m getting back up, dusting off and continuing my journey.
