I’ve been blessed to find an acupuncturist that I love. ✨ Aimée is a true healer and also does breathwork (that ish is intense, yo!), Chinese & herbal medicine, cupping, healing touch, and more. She deeply understands what life with chronic illness is like, and has become an integral part of my own healing practice. And, she doesn’t always stick needles in my face (but I kinda like it when she does...) 🤖🌟

These two books are an awesome place to start—“Sit Like a Buddha” by my mentor @lodrorinzler and “Start Here Now” by @susan.piver. —�
A lot of people also finds apps a great place to start, and some of the much-loved ones are Headspace, Calm, and Insight Timer. To dive in a little deeper, check out MNDFL’s online video series, which offers a free trial. —

2/2 My tips for the meditation-curious. (Several of you asked for this info on different platforms, so I’m feeling inspired to share!)
1) When you first meditate, it can be incredible to discover how loud your mind is. This is normal.
2) You can’t meditate “wrong” or be bad at it. It’s a practice.
3) Sticking with it daily (10-20 minutes) can create incredible change.
4) Try different stuff until you find what works!
5) The most important thing—always!—is to be gentle with yourself. 💜

You guys!!!! It’s official! Five months, 300 hours, and 5 retreats later, I’m a MNDFL certified meditation teacher!!! Bringing mindfulness-awareness and loving-kindness to a cushion near you. 💛 I got to meet, and meditate with, the head of the the Shambhala Buddhist lineage last night. I’ve been a student of Shambhala for about eight years now, so it was a pure delight, truly something to treasure. @lodrorinzler did a fantastic job, as always, of moderating the event! The other guests were also clever and thoughtful and fun. 👏🏽👏🏽 to @adinges + @georgiapettit and all of the other wonderful people who made it possible! 🙏🏽💖

The Sakyong is hands down one of my fave authors – his new book, The Lost Art of Good Conversation was just released. Pick it up! It’s full of gems of wisdom for today’s incredible challenges with communicating with each other. (Second pic is regram from @georgiapettit 😊✨)

Happy Halloween, friends! ☠️💀 I’ve spent a lot of time this year contemplating the inevitability of my own death, which makes me hunger to use my life in a way that I’ll be proud of. We all leave a legacy, and I really do want mine to be a good one. (The family has asked me to stop pointing out that we’ll all die, but I’m making an exception on Halloween to encourage you to enjoy the fact that you’re alive! I’ll be trying to enjoy each breath today. 😊😘)

I spend a lot of time these days “working on my health” but this doctor’s visit was next level. I found out my long-time family GP doctor has been a Buddhist for decades, and she invited me to introduce chanting into my daily meditation practice, as she’s been doing it for 33 years to great benefit. She also told me that everyone has a burden, sickness is mine, and that how I get through this can be a great service to others if I focus always on how I can be of help to people.
And then she HUGGED me! I have never had a healing touch inside a Western doctor’s office, and it felt like a huge kindness. I love her so much. I loved her before, but this made me see really clearly why she came into my life. I’ve had so many terrible experiences with traditional medicine, but she keeps my faith alive. It was just what I needed to hear, and just who I needed to hear it from. 🙏🏽❤️👩🏾‍⚕️

She eats rainbows for breakfast! 🌈 My niece Quinn, was wearing her rainbow shirt when we noticed a light refraction coming through the windows and dancing all over her face. Some people chase rainbows; but rainbows chase Quinn! 💖
ps October is Down Syndrome awareness month. DS happens when a baby has an extra bit (or more) of chromosome 21, and it’s the most common chromosomal condition–one in 700 babies have it. That extra bit can often lead to an extra-loving personality, as in our Quinnie-baby’s case. #allthelove #chasetherainbow
