i liked those three guys peeking out. instagram changed my way of looking around a city so much. i probably wouldn’t have paid attention to the little details and walk through all the little alleys and backyards before. nerd-level: increased. 😜

the hanseatic town was built on a salt dome which made the area important and wealthy in the middle ages until 1600 when it started to decline.
during the 2nd world war the town remained undestroyed so that it has an intact medieval cityscape.
the square 'am sande' in the city center of #lüneburg.
the most striking building in that area is the former brewery building, haus schütting, at the western end of the square. completed in 1548 the black-and-white glazed brick building currently houses the chamber of commerce and industry.

the morning was the best time to explore the petit france district. before all the other tourists showed up we enjoyed our morning stroll through #allthealleys of this stunning part of the city.
the historic city centre was classified a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988, the first time such an honour was placed on an entire city centre.
