Great post.

In the last post I made about the @uahunt YouTube video that’s out right now with @cameronrhanes and me bow hunting for elk in Utah, a lot of what I wrote was really an answer for the most common question which is, “Why do you hunt?”
This picture of tonight’s dinner is probably the best answer.
I briefly peered into the comments, which were surprisingly positive, but there were a few things I thought I would address.
For one thing, I’m not saying you have to do what I do, or that what I do makes me a better person. It doesn’t.
What hunting does to, is provide me with meat that I feel better about.
Some people chimed in about how it’s easier for me because I have friends like Cam Hanes, Steve Rinella and John Dudley and that it’s way easier for me than for the average person, and they’re absolutely right. I would never deny that. I do my best to make up for that privilege by spreading the good word on something that I think gets an insane amount of hate in a world where somewhere around 97% of the people eat meat.
I’m extremely fortunate to have the guidance of knowledgeable, experienced hunters and I rely upon them heavily. I would be the first person to tell you I’m no expert. I’ve only been hunting for 5 years, and although I practice obsessively on archery and read about hunting all the time I’m basically a beginner. If hunting was Jiu Jitsu I would probably be a blue belt.
All of those comments from all those people are valid, and more than anything are just the results of the ineffective, clunky method of two way communication on social media with posts and comments on those posts.
I’m pretty sure if most of us had a conversation about all this stuff any conflict or confusion could be cleared up pretty easy. Social media is “a” way to get information across but it’s certainly not the best way, and definitely not the best way for two people that disagree to understand each other.

Another great day of competition in the books. Congratulations to everyone that took part. Your hard work is really starting to pay off.
A big thank you to Coach Whit for putting it all together! From the Thursday night Oly classes to every detail in this competition.

The biggest recipe for failure is thinking that you should be motivated all the time.
#
The truth is, you aren’t always going to be and some days just suck.
#
The solution. Practice discipline. It’s a much better foundation to rely on than motivation. How do you do that?
#
Here’s the best way I’ve heard it put by my man @bainasaurus ....
#
“Do what you know needs to be done, even when you don't want to do it. The more you follow through on appropriate actions, the easier it gets to follow through the next time. The more you "convince" yourself you have a reason to splurge/binge/whatever the less likely you will be disciplined the next time the situation arises. Discipline is a skill that needs to be practiced.” #strongeru
