This was the sight at the end of #tnf50 yesterday, and it was a perfectly beautiful way to put a cap on a magical day. When I started running with Sophia at Stinson Beach, she was already 27 miles into her 50 mile race, and had just gone through the hardest terrain of the day. But she was on a mission, and we ripped through the next 23 miles methodically, barely slowing to grab water at aid stations. The final 5K of the race crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and winded down to Marina Green. It was a thrilling way to end and we got SO HYPED once we hit the bridge! Seeing Sophia cross that finish line, and tackle this new distance for the first time was a sight I’ll not soon forget. If you ever get the chance to pace someone — do it! Incredibly fun and rewarding to feel like you’re out there in service of another. [

We headed to the Sierras for most of our backcountry trips this year, so it was a nice change of pace to spend this past weekend in the nearby Santa Cruz mountains. I’ve only visited Big Basin for trail runs, so it was a treat to try it for an overnight hike and run adventure. This was my favorite spot, that we came across on the hike out. The East Coaster in me still gets jazzed I can stand on a mountain and see the ocean! 🌊⛰😲

I did it! Huzzah. 2:34:38. Good enough for third overall female in the Olympic distance, and second in the 30-34 age group. Now for some snacks. 🥞🍳🥓 And a nap. Thanks for the support, Sam and @kellydomara! #marincountytriathlon #flystyle #oisellevolée
Triathlon flat lay = infinitely more time consuming and self-indulgent than running flat lays. 😝 Tomorrow I’m going to do a thing! After talking about wanting to do a triathlon for *years*, I finally cleared my running schedule and signed up for one already. It’s scary to go and be a beginner at something again, but also refreshing because expectations are set at zero. I made my way through a rather unsophisticated training schedule where I wasn’t always sure what impact each workout was meant to have. I also missed about a quarter of my workouts because #podcasthustle is real. 🤷‍♀️ Oh well. Some things have gone well too. I learned a lot about biking and swimming technique, got faster at both, gave my poor achilles tendons some rest from running and saw myself get fit in a more well-rounded way than perhaps ever before. Any last minute advice for me, tri people?
See ya in the morning, Marin County Olympic Triathlon!

The biggest tree in the world! Though at a mere 2,300 years old, it's far from the oldest.
Had a great weekend knocking around Sequoia National Park with some friends and their adorable littles. Thanks for the invite, @mcjenmcg and Tim!

Farewell, pretty place. You've left me feeling refreshed and ready to get back to that podcast hustle on Monday. 😊Though I'm already looking forward to a few days with friends in Kings Canyon next weekend! 🏝➡️⛰

Sam swims in a human-sized tide pool that was created by a collapsed lava tube. We saw three sea turtles hanging out just beyond the rocks! 🐢

My seatmates on the plane ride here invited us to stay a night at their home while we visited the North Shore. I put my stranger danger worries aside and said "sure!" It was hospitality like I've never experienced. We stayed up late, drinking beers under an *almost* full moon, overlooking the ocean in their amazing backyard. This morning they sent us off with a handdrawn map to their favorite beach. A vibe I'm marinating on: Sometimes there is magic to be had in not planning everything to a T, and just holding on tight as experiences find you.

Fogust is in full swing right now, so my last few coastal rides have been accompanied by eerie, drifting layers of fog. It's beautiful, and a very pleasant way to keep cool on a hard ride ... but boy am I ready for big blue skies and views! Get here September! Here's @beccafurman screaming down the backside of Hawk Hill yesterday. #californiaadventure #bike #bikelife #bikeride #cycle #fromwhereiride #outsideisfree #ridelikeagirl #baaw #wymtm #roadslikethese #cyclingshots

What a day! We hiked our bikes around the downed Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge so we could enjoy car-free paradise along Hwy. 1 on the other side. Big Sur is perhaps THE reason I moved to California, so it felt good to visit this enchanting stretch of road again. The marine layer kept the Pacific views I was craving elusive, but biking through the fog amped up the eeriness of the whole experience. Magic! 👌🏼 Go before the bridge reopens Sept. 30!
