Still not over the fact that I woke up to this sky (no filter and this picture doesn't do it justice)

One year ago today I left for my "pilot study" in Sierra Leone, which just involved @briellelondre and I fumbling our way through the country and being taken care of by the most amazing array of human beings. ----------------------------------------------------------— I am so excited that I will be returning to Sierra Leone next month to spend several months there conducting research (with 3 awesome MSc students) and that I've taken the plunge to start something I hope will be bigger than I ever dreamed- the Pan Verus Project - @panverus - learn more by clicking the link in my profile. I hope you'll take the time to support this, as it's much more than just supporting me. It's supporting community development and protecting one of the most amazing ecosystems on the planet which has virtually no protection right now.

@avereem28 spilled red wine on my duvet and bought my project an apology chicken. But the cool thing is, you don't have to spill red wine on my personal belongings to donate a chicken. You just have to go to panverus.org (link in bio)

2017 - A Recap: I returned to Sierra Leone. I spoke my mind in DC. I got sick too many times. I went to my 50th state. I camped in Canada. I met kind and wonderful people. I lost a kind and wonderful person. I mourned with my family. I had opportunities presented and taken away. I moved back to Oxford. I started pouring my heart and soul into my PhD. I regained my independence while still learning it's okay to ask for help. I did not give up. I wrote a cheesy Instagram post.
