its amazing to see how God has sustained, grown and taken this Church from the first service (at the RSL club with the pokies 😂) all the way to today, and we believe, into the future!

"They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them."
Psalm 78:11
One of the things I've learnt from being overseas is that its really easy to be amused by everything- from little things like street signs and different etiquette, to big things like national monuments and landmarks. But when I'm in Australia, the everyday things (and even the extraordinary things) are often mundane to me. This attitude is so different to when tourists come from overseas and they stare at the Harbour Bridge or run along the beach with glee.
And I think its a nice reminder for me to be more appreciative and more aware of the wonder in the mundane and the extraordinary, wherever I may be. Because, at the end of the day, it's a gift from God. 😃

Watching the sun rise as we celebrate the day the Son rose. (p.s. the heart shaped cloud in the top right just makes this heaps more special) "Then on the third at break of dawn,
The Son of heaven rose again.
O trampled death where is your sting?
The angels roar for Christ the King"

"But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable..."
1 Corinthians 12:18‭-‬22
A beautiful, encouraging verse in the midst of feelings of inadequacy & uselessness. We're working for the advancement of God's kingdom and not our own glory.

Sometimes God works like a sparkler (aha, bear with me here). You know that feeling when you're praying for that thing- a miracle, a breakthrough, a clear direction, a healing, a new perspective/mindset/insight or whatever else- and after days, and weeks and months and years there doesn't seem to be any change. Nothing seems to be happening and the heavens seem to have shut.
Well, that's like the first time you try to light a sparkler. You hold it near the flame and wait and wait and wait. The flame goes out then you try again and again, and you wait and wait.
But eventually, when the sparkler does light, it comes to life. The sparks dance with such energy and veracity and speed, and its beautiful to watch.
God could do in 10 seconds what you would take 10 years to do. But He works in His timing, not ours. The Bible tells us to "pray on all occasions" and to "pray continually", even when we don't see results. Its like waiting for that sparkler to light- nothing significant at first, keeping the flame on it, and waiting. But when it does light, its beautiful.

#morningthoughts // so many times I've been guitly of projecting the illusion that I've got my life together, that things are all on track, "all good nws". When people come with the hard questions, I have a natural tendency to deflect them, to direct their prying from my far-from-perfect life. But God says in 1 Corinthians 12: 9
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

What God says is counter-cultural. Trade in the facade of power and self-sufficiency for an open book of weakness and divine God-intervention. As we become more honest about our weaknesses and lay them bare before God (eventhough he already knows our weaknesses), we can see how gracious God has been in our lives, in working through our lives; and we see that we really really need Him. We cling to Him, and not ourselves, so that Christ’s power can rest on us.
