World War II U.S. Army veteran Thomas Rollins puts on his old uniform in the bedroom of his Altamant, Tennessee home. "It feels like it just happened a few years ago" when he wears the uniform, Rollins says. The jacket isn't his original. Rollins says he gave away his Army-issued Eisenhower jacket to a man in need during cold winter weather in Chicago and never saw it again. While attending Labor Day WWII re-enactment in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., a stranger overheard his story and told him he'd send him a replacement. Rollins never expected the jacket to arrive, but the stranger followed through and sent him a replacement. It fit perfectly. Rollins is a veteran of the United States Army who served with the 28th Infantry Division in the European theater. He was drafted in 1944 and served until 1946 before enlisting an additional 3 years in the Army Reserves. He is among 21 area veterans being honored by the Times Free Press in the week leading to Veterans Day. Staff photo by @doug.strickland

Staxon Drury came into the world to a YouTube audience of hundreds.

His mother, Lindsey, is one of an estimated 200 pregnant women who will give birth at home annually in Chattanooga, but Lindsey wanted to do so in the most public way possible. She had talked about giving birth in a park, or in the food court at the mall. She settled on YouTube, and she allowed Times Free Press photographer @doug.strickland to follow her and document her pregnancy and her son's birth.

Already a mother of two girls, who were both born at home, Lindsey wanted challenge people's preconceptions about a universal but often taboo human experience.

She also represents a slowly growing movement of expectant mothers seeking natural births outside of hospital settings, despite healthcare provider warnings about potential dangers of the practice.

The YouTube video of Staxon's birth has now been viewed more than 60,000 times.
