Big, ripe Cab Sav for Mother's Ruin hits the crusher. Dreams are born, sleep becomes a memory, weary hands turn purple...
And with that, vintage 2017 is in full swing!
Still a ways until the gorilla goes up though, lots of good times, hard work and kick arse wines ahead!
Wouldn't have it any other way!

From the pen (& glass!) of @r1chlust comes a cracking review of 2015's Mother's Milk! Cheers mate, great stuff indeed!
This mamma is made for drinking. Matured over 12 months in French oak, there's nothing overbearing about this Shiraz, rather balanced acidity and refreshing to sip. Smells fruit packed, dark cherry and spice. Savours smokey, long lasting yet not overly heavy.
Bottle done, crack another.
Looks like JR is back in the original "Home Of The Brave" and in a New York state of mind again! First Drop world tour of America rolls on, keep an eye out for @johnretsas and share your sightings! #firstdropwines
Their words, not ours (but pretty much spot on for our crew too!) cheers @theheritage_perth "This is delicious. Dense, sexy and a little fruity. Just like some of our waitstaff."

Here's to all of the First Drop ladies on this, the #internationaldayofthegirl!
They're all tough, crazy, clever and kicking ass!
There's a few more not pictured but we love you all!
(shout out to the Gantos girls, our fantastic assistant winemaker Anna, Jen, the keeper of the books and our all time killer in the kitchen, Amy!!)
A snap from the road by Gantos of the larger than life character that is Christian Philipson.

That's a 9L bottle of 1982 La Chablisienne Fourchaume 1er Cru Chablis, unquestionably a major highlight!

Major thanks for all of your hard work and for looking after Matt, tack så mycket @philipsonwine!
Major cheers to @paigemichaelobe for hanging out with Ivan & the crew this weekend! It's guys like you that make for the best times!
How can you beat a review like this, absolutely bloody fantastic! "I had to share this because i had one of the most beautiful lunches I've ever had today with some my best friends. @firstdropwines - Home of The Brave Tapas Room and Cellar Door in Nuriootpa is such a gem of a place. Seriously though... the food!! Warm freshly baked bread, gorgeous cheeses and meats.. oh the halloumi 🤗. Chilli marinated prawns, perfectly seasoned calamari and anchovies with the most gorgeous oil and flavour... oh oh AND the BEST arancini i have ever had. There was so much more, and i could keep going on and on, not one thing we ordered I wouldn't get again. You know what was the icing on the cake - the service. Just phenomenal 👌Service like that is hard to come by these days, and means the world to me. Also, their Endless Summer Pinot Grigio was a beautiful wine for lunch, or anytime at that. I was spoilt by my beautiful friends with a bottle to take home. Perfect Day 💜💜"
Big cheers to @ashleighlyonsphotography and Meg from @provenance_barossa for coming to the cellar door and shooting Ivan today, we had a blast!
Thanks for taking the photos too!

Next up is the Day Of The Crab, don't miss out!

He may have posted it for "Mother's Milk Monday" but we'll claim this little beauty for Tasting Notes Tuesday! Cheers @njhsws

Not a sledgehammer style, this Barossa Shiraz is made for drinking! Soft, slurpy and textured it is balanced with good acidity, which refreshes the palate and makes you go back for a second / third glass. It is matured for 15 months in old French oak hogsheads sur lie to allow the fruit to fully express itself.

Link in profile, grab 6 and impress your mates!

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, listen to Hogarth and get your hands on a bottle or six of our Mother's Ruin Cab Sav! "This restrained, well balanced expression of McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon is an ode to the ‘luncheon claret’, but it’s not as green and austere as that favourite lunchtime libation at the gentleman’s club." Link in the description or hop on over to and fill your cart with kick-arse goodness!
Quietly channelling Hemingway on a business trip to the Barossa. Thanks for dropping in sir, was a pleasure to meet you!
