Dowager's Fingers - 娘娘的手指 - 대비마마님의손가락 [$10].
Fried wanton shaped like nail guards of ancient China with sesame mayo dip.
One can experience how dowagers of the past pick up their food using fingers, or even dig a nose maybe?

Butterfly (Pea) Milk Tea [VND 55k, SGD 3.30].
While it tasted very much like regular milk tea, I loved the deep blue hue from butterfly pea.
Now I can feel the impending Monday blues.

Sunday vibes.
A cafe where foreign expats gather, over some good coffee.

Bún bò Huế (Beef Thick Rice Vermicelli Soup).
A hearty bowl of beef thick beehoon soup from Saigon's well known street food celebrity, made famous by Anthony Bourdain.
This bowl of soup packs a punch with citrusy notes from lemongrass complimented with savoury beef meaty flavor.
Lunch lady is also known for her rotating daily special soup menu. This bowl of Bún bò Huế is only available on Fridays.

Japanese Rice Set Meal with mains of Steak and Prawn fitters, accompanied with assorted greens and appetizers.
Each set cost around sgd 20 and is worth the penny for amount of effort invested in curating the set.
If all my meals are as delicate as how Japanese cafe does it.

Matcha Warabi Mochi.
Chewy and green. As green as how my face would be after being stuck in mrt delays, numerous jam packed buses, changed a few buses, followed by traffic jam and required more than an hour to reach my usual destination.
Pfft. I am better off walking.

Bánh Mì Hấp (Steamed Bread).
While this was not the signature dish of the shop, it was the one which nailed the spot and left an impression.
Usually made using left-over bread, it is then re-made into another delicacy eaten together stir-fried meat topped with peanuts, onions and more greens. Savoury with occasional crunch from the nuts.

So pho-king healthy.
A hearty bowl of beef pho which comes with beef meatballs and rare beef steak.
Also not forgetting the mountainous pile of greens and tau geh to go along with the kway teow noodles.

Bánh Xèo a.k.a Vietnam's pancake.
My greatest takeaway this trip was that Vietnamese food is so much more extensive and not just about Pho and Banh Mi.
Take their pancake for instance, is a large eggy crepe stuffed with shrimps, onions and bean sprouts. Eaten wrapped together with lettuce, mint leaves and ended off with a touch of fish sauce chilli for a slight spicy kick.
Slightly similar to Korean dining culture and it's no wonder I observed quite a handful of Korean communities in HCM as well.
Previous weekend brunch in Ho Chi Minh at L'Usine.
A popular boutique cafe which offers all-day breakfast over their stylish dining space and unique range of apparels, accessories and products for sale.
Being a sucker for their bags, I ended up walking out of the store one million VND poorer.
Woke up early for some Bánh mì action in Ho Chi Minh.
Dine while squatting along roadside with non-stop motorbike honking action and be rewarded with one of the most crispy and fluffiest French baguette stuffed with pork and chicken sausages, pork liver and pickled vegetables.
Operating hours are from 5am to 10am but it's definitely worth to wake up early for it. Thanks to Princess Saigon @crappysotong for the recommendation.

Reminisce my sun-date brunch with @uricacxy over some halal rice bowl, egg benedict and salmon bagel.
Two more weeks of work grind till freedom 😱.
Herbal Duck Risotto? BBQ Sambal Unagi Don?
Wait no further and start the Sunday brunch right with a unique selection of Asian-inspired rice bowl series @statelandcafe.
Think local dishes such as Hainannese chicken, herbal duck and bbq sambal fish revamped and paired with Italian risotto or Japanese short grain rice for a familiar yet different take which will tantalize your tastebuds.

Missing my Kohaku Tendon but the snaking queue was too unbearable.
Ended up settling down with the neighbouring Pork Kastsudon presented in the same manner like tendon, which boasts 6 pieces of sizable breaded pork drizzled with the same sauce used next door.
Also satisfying, but I still much prefer fried tempura to fried katsu. 🙁
Have always been a fan of Char's Signature Char Siew which previously left a deep impression thanks to its thick luscious sweet sauce infused together with a good proportion of fat to lean meat which melts in the mouth.
New on their menu, comes an upgraded version of Kurobuta Slow-Roasted Char Siew [$20 for 150g] which boasts an even alluring smokiness to the tender juicy meat that captivated my heart. Limited portions available daily.
Now I am torn between choices.
Cutting down on this year's mooncake intake. But the one which I gave an exception was the Mooncake Softserve made from white lotus paste.
Imo lighter on the taste buds and felt less jerlat compared to a regular mooncake.
The other accompanying flavor was Durian Softserve which I can't help but shun, however @cassakating & @thechoyalicious gave their thumbs up.

Assam Laksa [$6 for Large].
A hearty bowl of Penang delights which impresses; thick luscious assam fish broth, chunky sardine fish and homemade chilli for the extra spicy kick.
Easily one of the better assam laksa around. But slightly under the radar unless you happen to be working in the vicinity.
The original Watermelon cake from @blackstarpastry.
Light, refreshing and contains fruity and floral notes. Finally strikes off one of my to-eat wish list.
A key highlight from The Great Food Festival and last day to lay your hands on a slice @rwsentosa.
Ferrero from the famed Aussie N2 Extreme Gelato.
Possibly one of the best that I have had in ages with smooth milky chocolate with occasional bits of rice cracker crunch embedded within.
Now this makes me wanna visit Australia a little.
Available at Rollin' Sweet Times within The Great Food Festival @rwsentosa which runs till tomorrow.
