My #InstantPot adventures continue, as evidenced in this drab little video. Happy to learn one can make decent arroz con pollo a la chorrera in the time it takes to wash, spin and dress salad greens. The small print: Eat the rice right away. Otherwise the Valencia pearl grains will soak up all the broth. The down side: I did miss the simmering steam and sounds from the a traditional pot on the stove. But, hey, whatever with the kitchen romance. It was delicious.

Happy New Year! 🎊
Put my Instant Pot to use yesterday and the reward was this delicious ginger-garlic bone broth with rainbow chard and ramen noodles and, yeah, maybe a little leftover shredded lechón on top. Cilantro and lemon added some zing. All part of my mission to kill my head cold with kindness.

Merry Christmas, from my familia to yours! 🎄
I was born in Puerto Padre, in northeastern Cuba, home of some of the best congrí (red bean-studded rice) on the planet. But on Christmas Eve, for some reason, I feel Puerto Rican in my love for arroz con gandules. (Pigeon peas and rice.) If you tasted this, you'd know why. Blessings to Puerto Rico on this Nochebuena! 🇨🇺🇵🇷💛

We strode past the alfresco bunch soaking up the Palm Beach sun and slipped into the bar, where we found the perfect table for a mid-afternoon coupe, mini sammies, a cookie (or three) and good, catch-up convo. We did pause our chatter to swoon at the mountain of daintily wrapped domes on a tray carried by a waiter. "Panettone!"
