Some days I run to beat personal records. 🏃🏼‍♀️
Some days I run for charity. ❤️
Some days I run for to test my limits. 💪🏻
Some days I run for my kids. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
Some days I run for alone time. 🙅🏼
Some days I run for Croatian cookies. 🍪
Today I ran because I can. 🙌🏻
Today I ran for stress relief. 🤦🏼‍♀️
Today I ran to clear my mind of the noise. 💯
Huh? Stop? Puh-lease. I'll keep moving til these legs give out.
Who else put some miles on it this morning?
Crossed paths with a group of cyclists who gave me a quick boost of energy with their cheers and support. I won't pretend I didn't need that extra encouragement today. Thanks, friendly cyclists. 🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼❤️💯🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼 #pause #resume #move #iamanathlete #encouragedontdiscourage #swimbikerun #athleteslife #athletesunfiltered #athletescommunity #stopahead #tonganoxie #smokinchick #twinmommy #keepitmoving #countryrunning #countryhospitality #goaldigger #motherrunner #kcrunning #runnersofig #cyclistsofinstagram
Bringing my pierced ears outta retirement today. Where are my sensitive ear girlfriends at? I haven't worn earrings in easily 10+ years. Found these beauties from @lnmrav in my jewelry box today. I couldn't resist making it happen. 👊🏼Girl, I digging the #noondaystyle you bought me so many 🎄 ago. One question tho, my ears shouldn't feel like they are on fi-yaaaaa, right? Back to the 10+ year thing. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Thanks for helping me dust off my earring game 💪🏻. #earringgoals #earringgame #twinmommy #womenhelpingwomen #styleyourfriends #changetheworld @noondaycollection
You probably think you know me. Well, you are right and wrong. Ready for an untold story?
About 17 months ago, I took a step back from my professional career in corporate America. The pay was great. The opportunities were plentiful. The camaraderie was energizing. But something was missing.
I decided to stay at home with my kids. That's right, this high achiever was going to take on raising twins as her new full-time gig.
Every day since my last full-time day at my employer, I've questioned my decision. And I freeze up every time someone asks me what I do. Because we all know everyone defines themselves by their job and their title. Think about every introductory convo you have. "Hi, what's your name? Awesome. What do you do?" Blah. Blah. Blah.
To this day, I still struggle saying I'm a stay-at-home mom (SAHM). Not because I'm embarrassed but because I never envisioned myself in this place. I never thought my annual review would be based on how well my kids are developing. Can they say their ABCs? Are they potty trained yet?
The truth is this job scares me shitless. It's the hardest job any parent could ever have on their plate. But I suppose that's my silver lining ... I was scared even before I made the decision -- of missing out on special moments with my littles. I put my professional career on hold for my two little children. That's brave stuff.
Now I surround myself with a variety of outlets to stay social and positive people to lift me up when I can't do it myself.
So there you have it ... I'm a full-time badass SAHM.
Here's the best part: I'm apart of the new generation of SAHMs who don't settle for just the housewife title. We've got our own lives and purpose. We're starting our own businesses, honing our skills and challenging ourselves daily all while raising tiny humans. Now that's something worth being proud of.
All my proud SAHMs put your hands up! **I'm also a fitness junkie, motivator/coach, endurance athlete, sausage maker, fashionista, wannabe photographer, lover of life, adventurer, awesomenist and still a damn good communications specialist.
