Still having the warm fuzzies from this mornings #coffeeandcardio charity event with @litmethod and @wholefoodslosangeles — a hiit rowing and bodyweight workout followed by holiday @stumptowncoffee, @wholefoods pastries (I went all in on a raspberry danish and a vegan chocolate donut 🙏🏼) and conversation with some sweet ladies.
I have said some version of this before, but this morning reminded me that I started this account because I was interested in the community part of it. Making friends and meeting new people, like getting a group of ladies together for a workout and coffee to willingly donate money to a cause I care about, with brands I believe in. I posted this morning that I was frustrated about people no-showing to the event, and I wanted to be clear about why. When I put time and effort and energy into events it’s because I want to make that community we have online tangible and real. I want to be able to know your first name and not just your handle, to know that 3/6 of us this morning have roots in western Minnesota, to hear about what you do and what brings you passion.
A lot of how I experience Instagram is one sided: I share a lot of myself and don’t always get the same amount back, which is why events help make me feel like I’m in a community, not just a content machine. I hope this doesn’t come across as shame-y or angry; I know life happens, and I choose what I put out. But the bottom line is these events take a lot out if me: they are hard to organize and plan on top of my regular job. And to put that kind of time and energy into something and not feel like your time is respected is a bummer. So, I just wanted to say that I am so grateful to those of you who were able to make it, and those of you who couldn’t make it and donated anyway. And I wanted to put out a small, polite reminder that the people behind the instagrams you like are people too; we have feelings, and don’t exist just to make content and host cool events. That’s all. Hope you have a beautiful Sunday. 🙏🏼☕️💗

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about batch prepping for meals. This is what it looks like! 🤩 Instead of making meals, you prep a bunch of components and then mix & match throughout the week! Super easy! The #goldenbeets and #spaghettisquash are from @imperfectproduce 🥦✨🙌🏼 Help eliminate #foodwaste!
