buddhimind Sugarcane or Half Moon Bow Pose...Because its marathon monday in Boston I woke up inspired to share with you some yoga poses that runners can benefit a lot from... This asana builds endurance in the feet and strength in the legs, it opens the hips and stretches the quadriceps and last but not least it lengthens the spine with a very subtle twist... The pose starts with a step up onto one leg with the hips stacked one on top of the other. Then the fun begins.   •   yoginya64 @aguzelinka я только сама под себя расслабляюсь. Я конечно знаю последовательности наизусть поэтому дубли получаются и мощное ускорение. Можно этот опыт описан и поставлен эксперимент. Я благодаря санкальпам ( чистое намерение ) смогла изменить себя и очистить память от негативных установок детства и подросткового периода. Особенный опыт это визуализации Чакр 8h

shantipath Flashback to when I "bathed" in the Ganga River in Varanasi, India to purify myself of my bad deeds. :) I couldn't wear a swimsuit, as that wouldn't have been appropriate. The next best thing was rolling up my leggings. When I walked into the water, there was an immediate dip and I screamed because I thought I was going to fall in. Some guys sitting close by on the steps started laughing at me. Good times. 22h

saltwatervitality Did you know that eating heavy meals before bed can cause sleep disruptions? Your body is so busy trying to digest the food that it makes it hard on your body to settle and relax and can cause discomfort.
This gives light on that saying eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a commoner and dinner like a poor per. It's all to do with allowing your body the time to digest and use the nutrients for optimal work, rest and play.

Now we all know that yoga should be practised on an empty stomach and 2 to 3 hours after eating, once again this is due to digestion. When your body is digesting food the blood is concentrated in the stomach and intestines as it works to break it down. Just like when your working out the muscles you are using have extra blood flow to that area because it has extra forces and the muscles require oxygen to function. So eating heavy food or meals before yoga or any activity isn't giving your body the best conditions as the oxygen and blood flow are concentrated on digestion.
However there are some asanas that you can perform after eating and they assist digestion. Virasana and supta virasana are 2 of these and not only do the help calm the nervous system they increase the efficiency of the whole digestion system and help to relieve stomach complaints such as hyper acidity and peptic ulcers.
Sitting between the soles of your feet with buttocks on the floor or if too uncomfortable on a block, bring the knees as close together as physically possibly whilst keeping the sold of your feet facing upwards. For digestion benefits stay here for at least 5mins or as long as you can. To enhance or assist the digestive system further practice abdominal breathing for 100 breaths before and after food.

To further assist you can also perform Supta virasana where you recline backwards either with or without support, as shown in the bottom photos. Inhale lift the spine exhale and gentle lean back on your forearms and then if comfortable all the way back. Stay here for approximately 1 min or as long as comfortable. Sit in virasana for a few moments before slowly coming back out.
