I suppose I wasn't clear enough about it being over between us when I cancelled my subscription AND unsubscribed from the emails you've sent. You're all about body image, and not just in a "love yourself" or "be healthy" way. No..you're the same as the other magazines (which I also avoid) that glorify a few body types and shove dieting products with the word "thin" written on all of the wrappers down the readers' throats. Your numerous PAPER I-want-you-back love notes are also the opposite of Eco-friendly and not appreciated, FYI.Call ya tomorrow. jannacabana I can honestly say that today eludes me, the lessons, the learning... #Svadyaya wha??? I've exercised patience without a phone for three days (yeah, my fault. I forget it somewhere). I was being responsible taking my car to get inspected early. I was practicing #ahimsa getting myself to a yoga class when I didn't really have time but needed to take care of me. But where did that all get me? Well, I got locked out of my place without a phone, a car, or a coat--in the snow!!! Eventually, I got back in having been thankful for the warm boots and this YJ I had with me. I recovered only to take a 1 hour plus Uber ride to teach a class that no one showed up to (smart students, staying off snowy, snowy roads ) And on the way to the bar to grab a beer while I wait for my ride (no rush, bad roads @chockmule) I dropped my crappy day companion in the snow dirty. It was either cry over a wet magazine or instagram my #followyouryoga even though I don't have a clue where this practice is taking me today?!?where is it taking you? barbaracampins "Yoga can make us happy". This is the story we are being sold.
But a lot of practitioners don't understand how. At least I didn't for the longest time. Yes it can heal our bodies, yes it can strengthen us and make us flexible. And yes yes yes it can make us feel great on the mat. This are all strong reasons to practice. But the only way we can work our way to happiness is if we really practice mindfulness, mindful moving, mindful breathing, mindful listening to ourselves on our mat so we can keep practicing it off our mat. What good does yoga do if we are doing yoga 7 days a week but when we step out of the yoga studio we don't listen to our bodies, mind and heart? Much less if we can't listen to ourselves we can't hear anyone else. So we stay disconnected. We keep shutting down our real fears and struggles which keep us acting on the same behavioral patterns. And now we don't understand ourselves or anyone else. But still we think everyone should be doing yoga because we can do chaturangas.
Mindfully listen to yourself as if you were listening to a 5 year old. Be present with yourself. Be loving to yourself. "The practice of mindfulness, the practice of meditation, consists of coming back to ourselves in order to restore peace and harmony. Mindfulness is a kind of energy that carries with it concentration, understanding, and love. If we come back to ourselves to restore peace and harmony, then helping another person will be a much easier thing." Thich Nhat Hanh
