In yoga we think it's our hips that hold all of our negative energy and emotions. So especially around the hectic holiday season, pigeon pose gives us a great chance to start working and breathing into the hips to create some space and release built up stress. The trick is finding the balance of staying connected but always were you can let go to deepen the pose. Keep the hips square, drawing everything into the midline and up through the core then melting the chest forward and down to surrender into it. I am showing two variations in this video with a mermaid grip and king pigeon option. Have some fun and keep up the good work!! catbradleyyoga Working on my scorpion #handstand Here's some tips that I have learned....
Hands must be shoulder width apart, middle finger facing forward with fingers evenly spread.
Every finger tip must be engaged gripping the mat, including the thumbs!!!!! But allow the knuckles to lift and centre of palm to lift too.
Feet do not leave that mat until shoulders are aligned over wrists, starting in narrow plank rather than down dog helps here.
The most important part of handstands are biceps squeezing towards each other and I mean squeeze hard as if you're trying to get them to touch!!
Lastly forget about getting those legs straight that takes time, focus on finding balance first, so maybe a handstand stag, split or even tuck to begin with. And I know you've heard this before but remove yourself from attachment to the end result and be patient working from the bottom up.

Which means “Misperception arises when you accept the unreal as real”. - I'm learning to apply my yogic teachings to my climbing as well. I'm learning to keep my mind free from pre-judging every hold. Reminding myself that they have no “value” – good hold or bad hold – it is simply there to be held. A sort of zen climbing if you will, fully present, free from expectation. 41min
