nodayliketoday_ Mh! -"How did you become so successful?" - "I built it with my own two hands, all by myself, using only will and determination." Oh... •   misscocomasloco @escapeprone how is a dictionary reference to classism in ANY way? And people have every right to be sensitive to certain words. But your claim that her use of the word was inproper and offensive is invalid because she used the word correctly. @empresstaj 'theft' is applicable to a bicycle, not what is being done to our planet. The word that has always been used to describe such action starts with an R and rhymes with grape. Thems the facts, I don't make 'em. 12h

  •   nodayliketoday_ @misscocomasloco i think they might have referred to your comment "get a dictionary before u form opinion" which can be classist in a sense but its also classist of them @escapeprone to assume underclass and working class ppl cant comprehend the info @misscocomasloco gave us. This is an open account where ppl can discuss from where ever they come from, maybe learn something from each other and create new thoughts hopefully. And everyone will have a different opinion, no one will agree with everything. Even within feminism or within the class struggle movement. The "check yourself" was unessecary especially since u tagged me in it i dont get that.. But ok. And the "get a dictionary" comment could have been left out cause the rest was a good enough comment on its own. What i dont wish to have on this page is a harsh discussion environment, which easily happens when not face to face, so that i will check myself on and hope others do on my page too. We can discuss the words without being hostile, i do think thats possible. 11h
  •   escapeprone Reason why I tagged you @nodayliketoday_ was because this is your space after all, wasn't doing it out of aggression or as a jab to you. And the classism argument was not about how WC PPL (including myself) cannot comprehend the etymology of words, it was due to the fact that this type of elitist academic arguments are always drawn out when people express an opinion and are then told that it is not "the academic way of putting things". Like I really cannot care less about its etymology, not because I'm uncultured but because there are people who are raped and enslaved today and using these words to explain the exploitation of imperialist capitalism, whoever effed up it may be, is still a distortion of their situation and what they are going through. 11h
  •   nodayliketoday_ @escapeprone cool well i stand by my opinion that i think its valid use of words still tho. There are also always various degrees of and within things. But i also welcome the debate! 11h
  •   misscocomasloco @nodayliketoday_ no disrespect intended at all to the commenters and I didn't mean for my comment to sound obnoxious in any way, I'm just a stickler for grammar (auto correct notwithstanding - it gets us all! ) and I would never belittle victims and survivors of sexual violence or slavery in any way. If @escapeprone thinks my way of reasoning is elitist, I accept that as her opinion, but I don't agree. In order for certain dialogues to happen (especially ones based on the meaning and connotation of words) forgive me for assuming we must have the grasp of them or things get out of control for no reason. 🏾️🏾 10h
  •   queercommie They enslave though wage slavery. You cant rape the earth. 10h

grace.sketcher 01 week, 07 days and I'll be asking this question of some of my favourite brands. + you should too!!
2 years ago in Bangladesh we saw the collapse of the Rana Plaza and although many companies have since signed the Workers Rights accord, there are many other factors during the chain production of garments: 9/10 companies don't know where the cotton they use, is produced nor quality of treatment to the workers, the quick turn over of seasons is continuous pollution during production and further waste when we discard of the clothes when they are no longer 'on trend', and for further facts and reasons why ethical fashion is a journey, strenuous albeit worth traveling have a yo'self a sneaky peak at @modavanti series of abc pictures over this month

bizhank Here is one of those old posters that I designed and screen-printed. I also printed real red bandanas for the parade. I'm glad that the parade continues to include bandanas. We did it the first year as a head nod to the Appalachian coal miner's Union who were often called "rednecks" because of their red bandanas. #mayday #workersrights #illustration #poster #silkscreened 2d
  •   bizhank Also that's my buddy Kenneth Yates on the poster who needs a head nod for all his organizing and coordinating with local unions and groups to participate in the parade that year. Also Lily Lamberta for building giant puppets and organizing the proper use, workshop and building those crazy things. 2d
