kmbuck67 A 1965 Silvertone. The head is hard wired to the cab. I would love this. #Silvertone #guitarporn #warehouselife #vintageamp 7h

jeffmcelroy24 Danelectro doubleneck circa 1956 strung with Labella flats. The cab is an early 70's Gallien Krueger 4-12 horn. Each rounded section contains two 12's only able to accessed via secret passage. Acoustic re-entrant hi frequency horn all powered by an Acoustic 330 head. The cab doesn't put out super lows but it has a special thing ( punch for days) that it does in the low mids that, when mated to the Acoustic horn is heavenly. Beyond loud of course.

  •   sameoldblues Sam are you playing in some band or something? You have gathered some serious stuff, too serious to play at home :) Are there some your recordings online? @samatkins78 10h
  •   sameoldblues Too serious to play at home, i would say* 10h
  •   samatkins78 @luisalex_torres absolutely!! 9h
  •   samatkins78 @sameoldblues yes in a band although we haven't played full tilt for a few months due to work commitments (none of us play music professionally having 'regular' day jobs). We did have a website but I let it lapsed. We mainly did covers (Cream, Stones, Beatles, Black Keys, White Stripes, Hendrix etc) with a few of our own stuff thrown in for good measure!! I crank this stuff up at home as often as I can and I'm quite happy to lend out my gear to mates to use too. I'd hate to keep all my stuff locked away!! 9h
  •   sameoldblues Do you have some youtube videos then:)? 9h
  •   samatkins78 @sameoldblues only of me doing some lame demo videos!! We did record ourselves on video once which was an experience watching that one back...definitely not for public consumption!! 9h
  •   sameoldblues Ok I think I've found it. Checking it tommorow:)! 9h
  •   samatkins78 @sameoldblues haha! Don't expect a lot!! I might shoot some better quality (sound and visual) demos...I run a media company after all so should know better!! 8h

tone_co Back shot of the 50s Montgomery/Danelectro w/o the panel that I retolexed with purple from @mojotone. Such a simple circuit. Can you guess all of the tubes? #MontgomeryWards #Danelectro #purpletolex #50sAmp #gearnerd #geartalk #comboamp #vintageamp 2d

truevintageguitar 1966 Fender Princeton Reverb -- now I've got two in the shop. This one is also all original except for two preamp tubes. These amps can go from clean to crunch and that reverb tank is the cherry on top. Fender's reissue is great too but it's something else to play the real thing. ---------------------------------------

samatkins78 I think my first ever car (an Austin Metro) had the same size wheels as the size of these speakers! There's a very slight crackle on from the speaker/s...the wiring seems solid so where should I try next ? Any help gratefully appreciated @surfburst #fender #fendershowman #vintageamp #vintagetones @fendersofinstagram #amp #guitar 4d
  •   aenneking Additionally, it could be the resistor on the input jack. Sometimes those get fried. Also could be leaky caps needing to be replaced. 3d
  •   samatkins78 @aenneking @surfburst @literock @skullservant @larrylegrand well, tried the head through my 2x12 cab and it was as clear as a bell with no fizzing/crackle sounds so it must be the speakers/wiring(?) in the cab! 3d
  •   aenneking @samatkins78 How do the speakers look? An old Oxford I have developed some hairline cracks over time, which caused a noise that might be described as a crackle. Additionally, When I got my WEM, the spider had come loose from the magnet in my original Greenback, which also described a noise like you're describing. That said, have you tried contact cleaner on the jack? It could just have years of grime. 3d
  •   samatkins78 @aenneking good tips...I'll take another look at the speakers more closely tomorrow. I just checked the wiring on the speakers to the input jack but they are the original speakers from 50years ago so probably are a little battle scarred!! 3d
  •   zol_77 Just play it for a few days and see, might just go away. If it has been stored for too long it just needs to work 3d
  •   literock Maybe a good cleaning of the tube sockets will help? I don't know much about vintage amps - I tend to stay away from them. I started building my own amps from old schematics simply because it's way cheaper. However, it might be easier to find broken vintage amps and fix them - since I know how to do it now. The problem you described is identical to the problem I had with the first amp I built, a Supro, except that it happened with every speaker I tried it with. Please let us know when you ultimately find the cause. As others have stated, it sounds like it could be any number of things that occur with a vintage piece of gear. I'd love to build something with that kind of power one of these days. These little 15-20 watt guys I've made just don't have the volume to maintain a clean sound un-mic'd live (which is what I'm ultimately after). Good luck, and thanks to everyone else for their insight - you guys are helping me out, too. 3d
  •   samatkins78 @literock thanks for all your help. I'm blown away with the amp really it's super clean and has some great low down grunt when you dig in. I've got smaller size combo amps and love them...I think for rehearsals, performing and practicality they're perfect but I just wanted to get a vintage all tube monster to really blow the cobwebs away and have some unbridled high wattage fun! 3d
  •   literock I look forward to the day I have an amp with that much clean power. 3d

samatkins78 Probably not the best demo to show off how great this amp sounds but it's early, I'm still in my dressing gown and I need a bacon butty...!! #fender #fendershowman #fendershowmanamp #vintageamp #vintagetones #guitar @lavacable #lavacable #slowblues #blues #telecaster #amp 4d
  •   samatkins78 @bluesbreaker_27 it has got a lovely sound and really responsive too. I don't think I'll ever get the amp to overdrive naturally...unless I want to lose my teeth that is!! 4d
  •   memocover this amp looks so awesome 4d
  •   samatkins78 @memocover it really is...I'm totally in love with it even though it's the most impractical amp I now own!! 4d
  •   czy_snsos nice amp!beautiful tone! 4d
  •   niksabreeze It's not only the amp sounding good! You sound great too! 4d
  •   samatkins78 @czy_snsos thank you...It's definitely my new favourite! 4d
  •   samatkins78 @niksabreeze thanks a lot...I might not play a hundred notes a second but hopefully I play with some feeling and honesty 4d
  •   niksabreeze That's it man! Keep it up! 4d
