extremenature Amazing #lightning storm in Wichita Falls, Texas. In this image lightning is striking two TV towers at the same time !! These towers were struck 9 more times over the next 30 minutes. Lightning is a massive electrostatic discharge between the electrically charged regions within clouds or between a cloud and the surface of the planet. The charged regions within the atmosphere temporarily equalize themselves through a lightning flash, commonly referred to as a strike if it hits an object on the ground. •   shunthesun How did you get that close? 3mon
  •   desert_oasis @shunthesun you drive to the top and use a zoom lens. Am I correct Marcus? 3mon
  •   shunthesun Just wondering if it was recent I went over a month ago and just this past weekend...both times the roads were closed due to damages...one worker said they wouldn't be open until Dec. just curious @desert_oasis 3mon
  •   marcusrootus @desert_oasis @shunthesun yup, drove to the top, hiked a little ways out, snapped the pic. No zoom though. 3mon
  •   marcusrootus @shunthesun yes, you're right. The summit road is closed due to monsoon damage. (You can hike holbart and get a glimpse of it. It's gnarly) this is a pic I took earlier in the year, just getting around to posting it. 3mon
