the_goddess_speaks Johnnie Cochran was one of the world's most successful and celebrated attorneys. He helped exonerate numerous defendants and won significant victories in civil court for victimized minority clients.
Cochran distinguished himself as a civil rights attorney, beginning with a well-publicized civil action case in 1966. As Johnnie Cochran's popularity grew, he manifested signs of being a “black Messiah.” From that time, the attorney's reputation as a "people's lawyer" grew. In 1995, Cochran led the defense team that exonerated O.J. Simpson. Cochran apparently angered the FBI when he defended the former minister of defense for the Black Panther Party, Geronimo ji-Jaga (formerly "Elmer Gerard Pratt"). Cochran said that helping to exonerate Pratt in 1997 was the most satisfying achievement of his career. Pratt was awarded $4.5 million after being wrongly convicted.
Cochran won numerous other high-profile criminal and civil cases, usually defending blacks, starred in a popular television justice show; and became the lawyer of choice for elite blacks as well as the “common man,” especially clients seeking restitution after police violence.

Cochran signed a partnership agreement with Southern white attorneys with the vision of taking The Cochran Firm nationwide. Cochran stipulated that The Cochran Firm would dispense with criminal defense and only accept clients in civil action cases. In 2002, Cochran announced that he was organizing a Reparations Dream Team to seek restitution for descendants of African slaves in America. The defendants being the US Government and major corporations that used leased slaves and participated in systemic racism.
In 2003, Cochran joined the Tulsa Reparations Council’s legal team pro bono to file suit for the 1921 Tulsa Race Riots. Johnnie Cochran felt compelled to correct injustices, and that may have caused his death. Johnnie Cochran died of an inoperable brain tumor on May 28, 2005.

the_goddess_speaks I will admit... I LOVE purses!! I always have ever since elementary school. I used to buy a new purse every 2 - 3 months. I probably had about 40 at any given time. Then one day it hit me... Who am I trying to impress with all these purses?? So I took 1/2 to Goodwill and sold 1/2 in a garage sale. I even gave away a slightly used Dooney and Burke purse and wallet to a co-worker and a Louis Vutton purse and wallet to my aunt. I simply didn't want them anymore. Now don't get me wrong I still love purses but I refuse to buy another name brand one. What difference does it really make? I get more compliments on my $20 purses anyway. There is a Queen on IG who sells purses.. @misspursenalities. They are very affordable and cute!

...buuut we continue to spend our money with these opportunists & think we've "made it" because we're able to "afford" & rock it. Some can't afford it but will use rent money to get it.They didn't create this stuff for us to wear..hell they don't even see us as worthy enough to even model the stuff. This is a true capitalist society though so money talks & they will gladly continue to take your little dollars & laugh at your ass while doing so. I personally could give a damn about Michael Kors & whoever else out there pimping.I used to think Louis V bag & Coach bags etc meant something...some status...foolery.I had nothing but wanted this trash just because i thought it meant something. You live & learn. I used to to be a Jordan fanatic...because i thought it meant something.....again You Live And Learn & I'm grateful that the wool has been pulled from covering my EYES. (#RepostWhiz app)

the_goddess_speaks In the past when I would see a police officer I would just hope they didn't pull me over for speeding because most of the time I was! Nowadays if I were to get stopped I would wonder if I should get my phone and start recording? Thoughts??? 55min
