wearethenepias It's not day's end yet but after an emotionally exhausting and draining day I'm sitting here counting my blessings, thanking God for small mercies and counting down the hours till my head hits the pillow. I missed all today's festivities but Happy Australia Day everyone. #latergram #sunsetchaser #givemeneverendingsunsets 1mon

wearethenepias Tagged by the lovely Tina @theroguesparrowsnest to share #onefromthecuttingroomfloor . My daughter and I are sunset chasers. As soon as the sky gets the slightest tinge in the evening we jump in the car and wind our way through streets, stopping to get a few shots on the way, to our local beach by which time the sky is usually an explosion of colour. It's such a marvelous way to end the day and I'm thankful that she gets my love of this time of day. emilycookie3 There is a place like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger. Some say to survive it you need to be as mad as a hatter. #sunsetchaser 8h

54stormywill54 A calming sunset with drifting cumulus clouds…it was the calm before the storm. Is rain on the way? Strong thunderstorms had actually developed in parts of NorCal this afternoon… An unstable storm had approached California this afternoon and had sparked valley t-storms. One t-storm that developed in Glenn County had turned severe and produced marble-sized hail, then moved southeast, even giving Gridley, Live Oak, Oroville and Paradise a nice light show! T-storms had late diminished overnight. Another unsettled day was in store… as the sun warms us up and destabilizes the atmosphere, showers and possibly t-storms were possible to redevelop again… Pic taken from around San Jose, CA near the Mimi Hair Express. (Friday around early sunset, February 27, 2015; 5:30 p.m.)
*Special weather update:
We were tracking a low pressure area coming down from the Canadian coast… Now, the low pressure area was just off the Oregon coast and was dropping southward. This system was to move across NorCal this day and Saturday. The low had cold air, but does not have a lot of moisture. Nonetheless, scattered light showers were to occur over higher elevations with rain shower chances in urban areas, including our area in San Jose, CA. This was a cold system so snow levels were to drop to 3000 to 4000 ft. Due to the unstable airmass associated with the low, thunderstorms were possible as well, especially in the afternoon hours. By Sunday, the state was to be mostly sunny once again…

54stormywill54 Lava in the sky! The clouds were on fire with color during late sunset. The tree on the left had added a nice silhouette effect. Pic taken from San Jose, CA from up at The Point Church. (Thursday around sunset, February 26, 2015; 6:11 p.m.)
*Weather update:
A low pressure trough was dropping southward along the Canadian coast. This day, Northern California was to be partly cloudy. The low was forecast to swing off the coast this evening and then move across the state Friday, eventually ending up over southern Nevada by late Saturday. Friday through Saturday, our area was forecast to see partly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers. This was a cold system so snow levels were to drop to 3000 to 4000 feet by Friday night. Skies were to be clearing by late Saturday and Sunday…
