bourbonscout Merry Whiskey Wednesday! To celebrate, we bring you No. 7 on our top 10 list of delicious and obtainable bourbons: Blanton's.
Tasting Notes: Vanilla, smokey maple, brown sugar, oak, subtle floral notes, finishes a tad bitter. Drinks hotter [spicier] than a 93 proof.

Like all single barrel whiskeys, this bourbon can vary from bottle to bottle. At $60 it's the priciest option on our countdown but most we've come across have been remarkably good.

whiskeybarrelsociety Looking for a great #Cocktail for the 4th? Check out my friends recipe @gb_master_distiller Good quality bourbon (preferably Garrison Brothers!)
1 cup water
1 cup white sugar
2 fresh peaches, sliced
2 tbsp pink peppercorns
Instructions
Place peppercorns inside a towel and use a plate or rolling pin etc to crush them up and release the oils.
Place sugar, water, peaches and peppercorns in a small pan, place on stove on a medium heat and bring to boil. Allow to boil for 10 minutes.
Turn off heat, and use the back of a wooden spoon to crush the softened peaches against the side of the pan. Don't completely break them down, or you'll end up with a cloudy syrup.
Once the mixture is cool, strain through a cheesecloth (or use a kitchen cloth as per the pic - much cheaper and easier!) and a sieve. You may want to strain the mix twice to get to a crystal clear appearance.
Put a huge ice cube in your favorite whiskey glass, add in the bourbon and the syrup to taste, and enjoy! #realdeal #howdycocktail #garrisonbrothers #singlebarrel

sticksnliquids The rats got into the roses again... @drewestatecigar Liga Privada Unico Serie Dirty Rat paired with @fourrosesbourbon Single Barrel #barrelstrength. What a great #bourbon full of intense vanilla, coconut, caramel, lime and cherry notes, with a good balance of wood and leather. Matched toe to toe with the full flavors of sweet coffee and cream, nuts, cocoa, and earth with a salty component that makes this #cigar really hard to put down. Can't really go wrong when these flavors combine - hazelnut cream and coffee comes to the forefront, earthy leather mid palate, and a lingering oak on the finish. So much yesss. #cigarpairing #bourbonpairing #cigarcartel #deperfectpairing #cigarporn #bourbonporn #dirtyrat #singlebarrel 15h

breakingbourbon This #singlebarrel @willettdistillery Pot Still Reserve #Bourbon is a great sipper! One of the last single barrels, everything new on the market is #smallbatch now. #Damn it comes in a #sweet looking #bottle though! #Cheers! #breakingbourbon 18h
  •   bourbonsippers The only bourbon I've ever thought tastes substantially worse after it had been open for a few weeks. As soon as it's opened its great, but it's like it spoiled or something. Very strange. 18h
  •   breakingbourbon No kidding @bourbonsippers?! Single barrel as well? Maybe a bad barrel? This one's not bad, been opened a few weeks now. 17h
  •   bourbonpeacock I am not a fan of this bourbon...taste off to me as well. 17h
  •   breakingbourbon That's interesting @bourbonpeacock. Wondering if lack of consistency had something to do with the switch from single barrel to small batch. Will have to look into that further. 16h
  •   thatghostog Man this bourbon is the first I ever bought that I couldn't drink a third glass of. Tastes like burnt popcorn. I can send you a sample if you wanna compare, I sure as hell won't be drinking it lol 14h
  •   prodigaldax @breakingbourbon got lucky with your bottle, enjoy! 9h
  •   mrsky786 My absolute favorite! 9h

  •   whiskey_wiseman I have a couple 8139's and it's one of the best bourbons I've ever had. Comparable to a 20+ wheater IMO. @jsmartin22 I think you'll love them both. Make sure you let me know your thoughts when you try them. 17h
  •   jsmartin22 Will do. Thanks again. Cheers 17h
  •   whiskey_wiseman My family loves the "eat fried crab claws and get a t-shirt" type places all the tourist go to. We always eat Louisiana Lagniappe once for dinner and donut hole once for breakfast. Last time we ate at the ocean club? It was pretty good. Thanks for the info. I'm sure I'll have some questions for you while I'm there. @will_the_whiskey_man 17h
  •   chrslove Typing this as I close my eyes to sleep in Bardstown before my first visit to the birthplace of all these bad boys. First stop tomorrow: Willetts distillery and couldn't be more ready! I'll say hi for you guys. 17h
  •   whiskey_wiseman Awesome! @chrslove Had the wife traveling through there today. Called and they only had one barrel of 11yr today. 1600 series I believe. Hope there's a great selection for you tomorrow. Let me know what they have. @chrslove 16h
  •   bourbonrox @chrslove hope you enjoyed the tour and the little treat 4h
  •   chrslove @bourbonrox nice place you've got there! Looking forward to staying on-property next time we're here. By far my favorite visit of the week and Mitch was awesome. The treat was an awesome offer, thank you. (I wish I could have taken you up on it!) 4h
  •   jsmartin22 Just noticed the guy sent me the wrong Willett 11yr. Instead of the 1030 I got a 1681 barrel 11yr. @whiskey_wiseman know anything on that 1681? Thanks 2h
