We are subconsciously abusing our children. When we invalidate them for their emotions, when they cry and we leave them in their cot which will turn into an abandonment wound, because whilst we may be meeting their physical needs, we struggle to meet their emotional needs because they trigger us a lot. We feel uncomfortable if they feel uncomfortable which means we do not love our children unconditionally. It depends on them feeling good & being 'good' which is damaging to us in our adult lives and the relationships we attract. We may love them, but we do not know HOW to love them. (Because we don't know how to love our own inner child , the fearful, angry, hurt, depressed, empty, confused, lost being inside us) we don't know how to be present with ourselves. We usually have a cover emotion such as anger, anxiety or shame when it comes to our negative emotions, because society has deemed them as bad and unacceptable. Mines anxiety. So we may feel too anxious to even feel our anxiety, or too shameful to feel it. But if we want healthy adults, and our children to have healthy lives and relationships we have to stop inflicting our limiting and damaging beliefs onto them, such as - ' you can't do this, you can't have this, you must stop crying, stop being a big baby now!, money is evil, desires are wrong, you must do this' you get the idea. Shaming desires and our positive traits is also a very common one which creates more shadows, society shames us if we are too positive or happy or weird, and if we are too negative or hurting. No wonder why people are drawn to detachment for escapism and 'neutral & minimalist living' because they feel powerless to their lives.. and shaming those of us authentic, deep, raw and passionate and animated. Never tell someone they need to love and respect themselves. Stop invalidation. Show them by leading example. By loving them and yourselves, just the way you are, being yourself, not scarifying for your child either. This is not love and not authentic. This image is very powerful!
