babydoxie Sometimes, you've got to stop, drop what you're doing, and pull fabric for a quilt. Inspired by @samanthaleeolsen's gorgeous #piccadillycircusquilt that she finished yesterday (seriously go check it out NOW), I've decided I need one of my own. And I got this crazy idea to hand cut 72 WOF strips in order to make a scrappy version. I'm thinking of using the orange tiny dots from Miss Kate as the alternating background fabrics. Now I just need to find the time to cut it up and sew! Maybe I'll cut some extra strips for a someday #scrappytripalong while I'm at it. #bonnieandcamille #thimbleblossoms 6d

rielnason All done! This was a wip forever. #scrappytripalong The border was a lot of extra work but I love how it looks. In other news, see our crazy snow banks still here ... #scrapquilt #modernquilt #quilt #quilting. I followed @quiltville_bonnie's straight-forward piecing method. Thank you! 1w

quiltville_bonnie King sized scrappy trips! Great job @peaceloveandquilts! When I first posted the tutorial for my scrappy trip around the world quilt back before the year 2000, I never dreamed it would be as popular as it is today. I love seeing what you have done with your fabrics in making these wonderful quilts. each is stunning, and each so different and unique! #quilt #quilting

Here's the #missionscrappytrip quilt on a king-size bed. I don't have anyplace else large enough to lay it out! It's got a pretty hefty drop in length all the way around. It still needs a wash & dry and will shrink a few inches, but it's a monster of a quilt! #scrappytrip #scrappytripalong @tabathachanning

  •   faithlovefabric A few scrappy trip around the world quilts have been passed down in my family, my most treasured is the one from my great great grandma. 1w
  •   allisongrayspence Love this pattern! 1w
  •   peaceloveandquilts Thanks so much for sharing, Bonnie! Your sweet compliments really encouraged me along the way:-) I'm certain I'll make another one - but for ME next time!! 1w
  •   sueinjeru Love this pattern! Have made two of them so far. I love how it works with ANY fabric. Can't wait to make another one! 1w
  •   blueblossomgirl Can you tell me pls, what is the size to which you trim each block? 1w
  •   quiltville_bonnie Blocks should measure 12.5 inches and finish at 12 inches in the quilt. 1w
  •   blueblossomgirl Thank you. 1w
  •   karlaye My favourite pattern. And the only one I've done twice! And I have a third bubbling up. 1d

  •   bellacoconut Luuurve this! @peaceloveandquilts 1w
  •   sevenblessingssewing Hi! I am making one of these for my mom and was just curious to know what the final size exactly is? Trying to figure how many blocks I need. She wants that kind of drape AND an old fashioned pillow tuck for a king!! 1w
  •   sevenblessingssewing P.S. This quilt is gorgeous BTW! 1w
  •   peaceloveandquilts @sevenblessingssewing Thank you so much! I did an 8x9 block layout. Shown here, it's 9 blocks across the bed, and 8 blocks, top to bottom. This is a gift for my brother and my SIL. I did 8x9 so that it could be turned either longways, for the pillow tuck;-), or sideways for a really generous cover. If I had made it for myself, I would have done the extra work, and went 9x9. 81 blocks is a lot of fabric! And work! Totally worth it, though. It still hasn't been washed and dried, but it shouldn't lose more than 3-4" in each direction. 1w
  •   sevenblessingssewing How big are your squares? Mine are 2.5" from jelly rolls and I am only doing 10 x 10 inch blocks so I could get more out of each jelly roll strip and least waste. 1w
  •   peaceloveandquilts @sevenblessingssewing For this pattern, blocks are constructed in 'strip sets'. Each block uses 6 fabric strips, cut 2 1/2"x wof. (You get ONE block, if you cut strips from a FQ, or TWO blocks if you use 42/44" wof.) Each block has 36 squares, and mine finished at 12"-ish, each block. I used 'the scrappy trip around the world' pattern by @quiltville_bonnie. Let me know if you have any questions! 6d
