fisher604 The bohemian waxwing’s name refers to their unconventional lifestyle and gypsy like movements of winter flocks. Unlike most birds the bohemian waxwing doesn’t establish breeding territories, as a result they have no song with which to defend their non-existent territory. They are common throughout the boreal and taiga forests. During the winter their diet consists almost completely of mountain ash, juniper, holly and other available berries. Bohemian waxwings are monogamous, with both genders working together to construct their nest. Adding to their unconventional lifestyle is the fact that these birds simply wander searching for food and don’t undertake typical migrations. There are only three species of waxwing, the Japanese, the bohemian and the cedar waxwing. #BohemianWaxwing #Bohemian #Waxwing #TheBirdIsTheWord #Ornithology #FeatheredGypsy #PrairieLife #ExploreSK #ExploreSask #GetOutside #GetDirty #IGBirds #ExtremeFeather #Wildlife #Nature #Nature_Addict #TheBirds #NoFilter 22h
