Normal Dedicated to all Vets of WWII
ww2showcase Luftwaffe Legends -- Some German pilots of the Bundeswehr's air force training with the F-84F in Arizona, 1957. A good number of pilots that previously served the Reich who were fortunate enough to survive the war, would continue their military careers with the Bundeswehr's Luftwaffe. Many of you will recognize the ace third in from the right, Mr. Erich Hartmann while in his early 30s. Two years or so prior to this, the greatest ace of all time was grounded and serving a lengthy 10 year bid in harsh Soviet POW camps. He was eventually released to West Germany in 1955 with thousands of other POWs who were wrongfully locked up for the better part of a decade. Hartmann continued his military career as a pilot in the Bundeswehr Air Force with his former comrades of the sky, flying CL-13 Sabres and later F-104 Starfighters. Two other notable aces pictured here, Friederich Obleser (far left) with 127 aerial victories, who at one point during the war questioned Hartmann's kill claims until he was assigned to be his wingman where he witnessed "The Black Devil" in action. To his right is another one of Jagdgeschwader 52s finest, Gunther Rall, the third most successful fighter ace in history with over 275 victories. 12h
  •   ilhamadamy Bundesluftwaffe! 11h
  •   braz12 Hartmann is third from right? That doesn't look like him at all. 11h
  •   ww2showcase @braz12 Indeed it is, harder to see here but if you could zoom in you would see it says Major Hartmann on the suits name tag. As far as I'm concerned, anyone is going to look different after 10 years and in soviet captivity. He is no baby faced 20 year old anymore here, I certainly still see the resemblance though. 11h
  •   silly_ra3bit21 Kill claims were no witness no kill.. I bet Hartmann and many others had higher numbers. 10h
  •   silly_ra3bit21 And that is for sure Hartman 10h
  •   bugkillersteve How many kills did Hartmann have? 10h
  •   ww2showcase @bugkillersteve A whopping 352 aircraft kills according to most sources. 9h

clover_vintage_boutique This is the most adorable vintage tablecloth I've found. It's made from a delicate linen and is in good vintage condition. There are a couple of small stains and a tiny hole here and there, but what you'd expect from an older piece of fabric. I'd say this dates to the late 1940s. #vintage #vintagehome #vintageforsale #vintagekitchen #vintagetablecloth #retro #retrohome #retrochic #clover_vintage_boutique #postwar 2d
