mountainbutorac After going to nearly every Papal event last year, today was my first Papal Audience of 2015. Pope Francis was happy to see me. "Mountain, where have you been?" #HeDidNotReallySayThat #popefrancis #vaticano #vatican #pope #rome #italy 2h

catholic_saints_ Saint Casilda of Toledo (~950 -1050, feast day on April 9) was born the daughter of a Muslim king in Toledo, Spain, in the middle of the 10th century. She showed much kindness to Christian prisoners. Against her father's wishes she used to visit those prisoners to smuggle in food for them in the folds of her dress. On one occasion, she was stopped by the prison guards who demanded that she showed what she was hiding in her clothing. When she opened the folds of her skirt, the bread she carried miraculously turned into roses. Thus, St. Casilda is often depicted in art carrying flowers in her dress. When she one day became seriously ill, she refused the help from Muslim physicians, and instead travelled to northern Spain to visit the shrine of San Vicenzo de Briviesca. It was famous for its healing waters and miraculous cures, and she was cured of her illness. In response to this miracle she converted and was baptized into the Christian faith. Saint Casilda lived the rest of her life as an anchoress in prayer, penance, and solitude. She is said to have lived to be about one hundred years old and died in 1050. Saint Casilda of Toledo, we pray for your intercession. Pray for the conversion of all humankind to the Holy Faith and Christ's Holy Church. Pray especially for the conversion of the Muslim population, that they will accept Christ in their hearts, and for peace in the Middle East and Africa. Amen 2h
