hollyghollyg So I learned that Venus fly traps will reject a meal if the bug does not move after the trap closes. If the tiny hairs are bent, the trap closes. If they continue to be bent, then the plants knows it's a live creature and is worth the energy to start digestion. (They don't want to waste that energy on a fallen leaf or pebble). This video and macro shot shows this triggering. (I accidentally triggered the trap with the rejected dead fly by trying to flick it out.) #photojojomacro #iphonecamera 12h

tgoodspeedephoto "The penalty for provoking their action is too terrible to risk. The result is, we live in peace, without arms or armies, secure in the knowledge that we are free from aggression and war. Free to pursue more... profitable enterprises. Now, we do not pretend to have achieved perfection, but we do have a system, and it works. I came here to give you these facts. It is no concern of ours how you run your own planet, but if you threaten to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned-out cinder. Your choice is simple: join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision rests with you." 20h

#whphyperlapse of a slow moving snail for this weekend's @instagram challenge. The slow pace of a baby snail makes the 6x speed setting of the new Instagram app Hyperlapse just ideal for a 15 sec time lapse macro photography.

Snails secrete slime to cling to surfaces. In the beauty industry, many believe slime is able to activate the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that help make our skin smooth and wrinkle-free.
.
Would you put slime on your face? Some do .
