thelastbibliophile “It's funny. When we were alive we spent much of our time staring up at the cosmos and wondering what was out there. We were obsessed with the moon and whether we could one day visit it. The day we finally walked on it was celebrated worldwide as perhaps man's greatest achievement. But it was while we were there, gathering rocks from the moon's desolate landscape, that we looked up and caught a glimpse of just how incredible our own planet was. Its singular astonishing beauty. We called her Mother Earth. Because she gave birth to us, and then we sucked her dry." -Jon Stewart, Author Of The Week •

thelastbibliophile Just finished the audio book American Sniper by Chris Kyle. I like Clint Eastwood, but he completely butchered the story. He turned the movie into a romantic tragedy and the book wasn't even close to that. The book shows how Chris struggled with the idea of coming home because he felt he owed it to his country and his men to stay in the war. He put his career before his family which is extremely sad. The book is more about the struggles of war and not so much his struggles at home. Very good book. Please check it out. • •

Also, he never murdered any children. That's one part the movie fucked up. •

  •   thelastbibliophile That's the one thing I had a problem with. I hate the idea of murder in general. War it's fucking sad. No parents should have to bury their children. The idea of citizens being murdered is a sad thing. I know one person that fought over seas and he doesn't talk about it at all. @nikkicg88 5h
  •   nikkicg88 @thelastbibliophile yeah I agree. War is sad no matter what way you spin it and innocent civilians always end up getting hurt in the process. His story is definitely controversial 5h
  •   timmy_adventureland Well, now I have to put this book on my list. I think its hard for people to understand his perspectives, esp being in his shoes. I know when I Watch too much news and see all the sincere hatred people have in other countries, it makes me proud knowing people are making a difference. I dont like violence but times it is necessary, when I see the documentaries of the Nazi and feel sheer disgust of the treatment of humans, I realize what we're going through right now is similar. I believe in respect and toleration of each views until it turns to hate. 4h

  •   thelastbibliophile I completely understand where you're coming from. I too watch and read a lot about the nazi party and WWII in general. I'm happy that people are fighting over seas because I know I wouldn't be able to do it myself. I have respect for anyone that joins and fights. I don't understand the concept of murdering someone because I've never been put into the situation. I think their religion radicalism is completely insane. Killing people in the name of "god" is sickening. @timmy_adventureland 4h
