  •   lemond33 @xxbasserxx awesome place, ur lucky! 1w
  •   xxbasserxx Sweet yeah I'm located in Lancaster and fish tournaments on the Susquehanna and on the flats often 6d
  •   lemond33 @xxbasserxx very nice. 6d
  •   timhalaja Amazing smallmouth there. 4d
  •   lemond33 @timhalaja not what it used to be, but it's still good. They better get a grip or they could lose a great fishery.. Take notes from what's happening on the Potomac River. 4d
  •   timhalaja They've beem working for years to clean it up. In the last 10 years the population has grown well over 200% (official numbers). It's on its way back. I used to live in Harrisburg and I still visit frequently. Right above the power plant near the Rapids is pretty great. 4d
  •   lemond33 @timhalaja where can I read that? They put strict regulations on even holding a fish in the livewell there because of the problems. 100 fish days were common, but not anymore, so I would challenge that study. Fish are showing up with sores on them, so it's still not right. I would like to read ur article of reference. 4d
  •   timhalaja I didn't read a study. I know people involved in the operation and I have done some work with it too. A good day now is about 50 fish a day. You can keep a limit and they've brought back tournaments. You can't even target them during the off season still tho 4d

jongcaytiles "Cheap kuryente advocate" Mark Cojuangco discusses why nuclear energy is safe and cheap. #BNPP #BataanNuclearPowerPlant #nuclearenergy 3w
  •   jongcaytiles However, you have a very good point on efficiency in case of a meltdown. We're not assured of lightning fast response time. Or if we could procure all those special suits and other equipment needed to contain the radiation or to evacuate employees etc. We also need a very effective and competent science department (or nuclear energy unit) that should be firmly on top of the program. At the end of the day, however--and this is where I fully support Mark, the bottomline is simple: how do we make energy cheap? If the govt thinks BNPP is an answer, then start it right away. If not, then let's make a firm decision and stop its operation altogether. 2w
  •   jongcaytiles Do you know that we allot 40M for its maintenance each year? Mark says that if the govt concludes that it's not yet time for us to go nuclear, then we should stop the maintenance of BNPP as we are just wasting our money. But of course, he still hopes that we could reactivate it and he would be able to correct misconceptions on nuclear energy. (Pero gusto ko ang sinabi mong "who has the means to escape asap"--naalala ko yung movie na 2012 ba yun? Where the rich paid billions to board a ship that would save them from the great flood.hehe). @tishapia 2w
  •   tishapia39729 yes, i know. then again, a mistake cannot corrected by a much bigger mistake. better let go of it now. 2w
  •   tishapia39729 chernobyl and fukushima... what's next bataan? i don't think we can afford such a mistake. do you know how much has japan spent just to erase fukushima from our level of consciousness? i am not even pointing out the millions it spent to clean up the mess, to pay people for the damages (tepco here)... and even up to now it is still compensating farmers from and around fukushima. it worked hard and paid billions to campaign for olympic 2020 just to make an impression to the world that japan is still a safe place to live. meantime, we know that tap water is no longer safe, that the fish and veggies we see in supermarkets may be contaminated, that the air we breathe carry radiation beyond safe levels. people will not understand this until they experience a life in constant fear of danger they cannot see or feel... but they know exists. 2w
  •   tishapia39729 as for cheap electricity, why don't we straighten our acts first? 1) stop the monopoly of power generation; 2) look out for and seriously punish those wire-tappers; 3) clean our environment and stop deforestation so we can utilize hydropower; 4) make us believe that those in (political and economic) power are seriously after our people's welfare, as opposed to the money they will generate when the bnpp is re-opened; 4) personally i think if we cannot afford to build a full-scale operational nuclear research center, scrap bnpp. i'd rather err on the safe side than be sorry later just because i want cheaper electricity. @jongcaytiles 2w
  •   jongcaytiles Haha! I get you! What will we do with cheap electricity if we turned into mutants already.hehe! The debate on nuclear energy is really interesting. Some friends on Facebook also sharing their concerns (and also optimism). Would be great to attend a forum where both pro and con would present their ideas. You were there when Fukushima happened right? From news, one can really feel the sense of panic and concern. But there mismo, how was it? Or the impact/damage on health will manifest matagal pa? So scary and grim the news that we see. @tishapia 2w
  •   tishapia39729 yes, i was here when it happened, @jongcaytiles . earthquAke here is normal but radiation of dangerous levels is the more dreaded enemy. up to now i am still blocking the moves of the GOJ to convince the GOP to open up our market to japanese food minus food safety certification. unlike the eu and the us, we don't have much safety nets in phl. we don't even have the capability to detect radiation levels on food imports in our various ports. mahal daw to buy the equipment. eh kung dito pa lang, namamahalan na tayo... sa tingin mo we can cope up with the demands of (safely) operating the bnpp? nakakaloka. japan is lobbying for this for political reason, not for economic because in the first place we don't have much food import from there. again, it just wants a "safe-to-live/visit" image. despite this, fukushima is still a ghost land. we live in constant fear, day in and day out. we wanted a "hazard" pay for being sent here; again, the GOP said it cannot afford that. jong naman, if hindi natin kayang ibigay ang maliliit na bagay to ensure the safety of our people, how can we trust that THAT bnpp will run safely and smoothly? roads and bridges pa lang natin kinukurakot na, paano pa itong bnpp which will demand millions for maintenance from our national coffers? no matter how much i badly want cheaper electricity (i find our electric bill in manila monstrous ha!), i don't trust our capability to operate and maintain bnpp. and yes, the side effects of too much radiation exposure cannot be seen right away unless you're directly exposed to the disaster area (like the tepco president who died of lung cancer six months after fukushima happened). @jongcaytiles 2w
