vahidpix The #Shasta #Cascade region of #California is located in the #northeastern and north-central sections of the state bordering #Oregon and #Nevada, including far northern parts of the Central #Valley and the #Sierra Nevada #land range. The area is centered on Mount Shasta in the California Cascade Range, near the #Trinity #Alps. Mount Shasta is a quiet but #scientifically active complex stratovolcano

smileforaselfieofficial "Okay confession time:
I don't like posting selfies without makeup or with my hair completely untamed. Since I was in middle school I've always been oddly sensitive about my physical appearance, perhaps because I knew that wasn't what people focused on when they thought of me. Being the perfectionist that I was (and still am), I was just so frustrated by my chronic acne, my frizzy hair that seemed to be everywhere, and my braces that I had for five years, including through so many milestones of my growing up. However, now that I'm more "adult" than I was before, I've realized some important things:
1. My physical appearance has nothing to do with my value as a person or my value as a woman.
2. It's not fair that I am growing up in a world where me and my fellow women feel like their physicality has to be a certain way to feel beautiful and validated and that if we don't stop now, future generations will have the same complaints as me.
So, on this year's International Women's Day, I want to share this picture of me with my hair unbrushed and my acne scars visible. I do this not just to overcome a fear but to send a message that all women are beautiful and powerful just the way they are. It's time to let everyone, especially women, live their lives without stigma and judgement for not fitting a "norm" of what we should be. #internationalwomensday" #SmileForASelfie

smileforaselfieofficial "I'll save the time and tell it as it is, depression came into my life pretty unexpectedly. I doubt anyone was able to tell that I was depressed, nor correctly guess why, because frankly I couldn't either. I spent about two years understanding and fighting my depression. Recovering from my depression made me incredibly strong. I live my life differently, and know that my depression is nothing to be ashamed of. I encourage everyone to learn a little bit about identifying the various symptoms of mental illnesses and help keep yourself and others healthy. I want anyone struggling with a mental illness that there is no reason to feel ashamed, you're not alone, and things do get better. I promise." #SmileForASelfie 1mon

Depression and anxiety hit me before I could ever remember. I have good days and bad days. I have learned over many years and a lot of therapy that mental illness is not something I need to be ashamed of. I believe that mental illness is passed on in families and have always been honest and open with my children so they can recognize the signs. I am proud to be who I am today and if that includes being a person who suffers from mental illness than that's who I am; but I am also a person with goals, hopes and dreams just like everyone else. #smileforaselfie
