sabrinamero Only Three Hours up There on the Wall... It felt as any other time: chronic fatigue and soreness all over the body, restless legs etcetera. Then, only three hours up there on the wall and my legs already feel fine again? Strange events are occurring here... #myownfibromyalgiadayssm #fibroflare #restlesslegs #autoimmune #neurologic #chronicdesease#sabrinabw 1w

floatuniverse #SharonSalzberg said her mind might be very different if it weren't for meditation, and new #neurologic research suggests that she might be right.

Troubled by a #traumatic, #stressful childhood, Salzberg traveled to #India as a college student and discovered #meditation. Not only did it help her deal with her #painful past, Salzberg said, but the practice #helped change the way her mind worked. "I hadn't really looked #within," said Salzberg, a co-founder of the Insight Meditation Society and author of seven books on meditation. "I felt much more #presence, rather than being distracted. It felt like the whole #world opened up for me." A new study from #Yale University suggests that the brains of experienced #meditators like Salzberg may actually work differently than #brains of those who don't #meditate. The study gives scientists a #window into the meditating mind, providing evidence that the practice appears to change the way the brain works and could give meditators a leg up when it comes to dealing with #mental disorders.

medicalphy Many types of brain tumors are found. Meningiomas occur along the surface of the brain. They grow quite slowly and often contain calcium. The study of choice is a CT scan with and without intravenous contrast. The noncontrasted scan may show the calcification, whereas the contrasted scan will show the extent of this typically vascular tumor. #neurology #neurologic #pathology #medicine #medical #healthy #health #طب 3w

pgodoy525 Antique skull Trephine used for Head trauma resulting in the development of a subdural hematoma, or a blood clot around the brain, was not an uncommon medical problem faced by physicians after large confrontations. These clots needed to be removed and made trepanning (the excision of a section of skull) a fairly common practice throughout early medical history. This was also the first documented operation performed in prehistoric times as early “healers” hoped to allow the departure of evil spirits whose presence was suggested by such symptoms as seizures, headaches, depression, or any bizarre behavior. #neurologic #oddities #antiquemedical #darkdecor #Brainsurgery 1mon

shaking.for.life Hi everyone my name is Claire! I was recently diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder known as dystonia. Dystonia causes involuntary muscle spasms that look almost exactly like a seizure. This condition only affects 13,000 people WORLD WIDE! I would like to bring attention to this disorder to let people know that you're not alone! #dystonia #neurologic #rare #fighter #survivor 2mon
  •   shaking.for.life @zombieboy6000 do you have dystonia as well?? I've had it for 6 months now 2mon
  •   zombieboy6000 Yes but I have cervical dystonia. Meaning it causes involuntary muscle movement in my neck making my head constantly turn to one side of my body. It fricken blows I've been diagnosed for about 8 months but I've had it for prob a year now. Botox hasn't really done anything for me either except give me bad side effects. 2mon
  •   shaking.for.life @zombieboy6000 I have generalized Genetic Dystonia so I have spasms everywhere! I took physical therapy instead of Botox because I hate needles 2mon
  •   zombieboy6000 I'm sorry to hear that I can only imagine how it must be. But if you want my honest opinion botox has taken a lot of my money and hasnt really given me any results. I think I do it because I'm desperate for relief but idk. 2mon
  •   shaking.for.life @zombieboy6000 well my form of dystonia is known as Dopa responsive dystonia! So it won't stop unless I get dopamine flooded into my system! 2mon
  •   zombieboy6000 that sounds horrible. I really hope it gets better for you 2mon
  •   shaking.for.life @zombieboy6000 It is what you make it! I will have to live with this for the rest of my life! I hope you sir, get better! 2mon
  •   zombieboy6000 Lol thank you much 2mon

medicalphy Stiff person syndrome is rather unique among #neurologic diagnoses because of its lack of significant similarity to any other neurologic diseases. Although rare, once observed it is quite unforgettable. Possibly the closest related disease is tetanus because both conditions affect peripheral inhibition via central mechanisms and both conditions inhibit central gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) systems.Clinically, stiff person syndrome is characterized by muscle rigidity that waxes and wanes with concurrent spasms.Usually, it begins in the axial muscles and extends to the proximal limb muscles, but the severity of the limb muscle involvement may overwhelm the axial muscle involvement (stiff limb syndrome).#medical #medicine #pathology #neurology #anatomy #men #طب #healthy #health#doctor #doctors 2mon

  •   limeforlyme @bekindforlyme thanks! It's been some hard work and four years to figure out the issues, but It's been paying off. I just hope that my weight doesn't plummet again because I'm getting ready to start treatment again (for the fifth time. Ugh) 2mon
  •   bekindforlyme @limeforlyme i hear ya ive been through 6 or 7 and still on maintence meds. May I ask and if dont want to answer its ok. First i will say, i also lost a lot of lbs because my stomach was destroyed and couldnt hold anything down. Just opening fridge i would vomit. Is this what happened to you? 2mon
  •   limeforlyme Pretty much. I had undiagnosed c.diff and h.pylori and that was a huge issue. It went unnoticed and once it was treated I started getting a little better. My digestive tract still is very fragile- I'm on a very strict diet and my GI isn't absorbing most of the nutrition I'm eating, so I've been off and on IV nutrition. But anything I'd eat I would throw up.. Even the thought of food was horrifying and made me sick. I got to a point that it hurt so much to eat that I'd avoid it all together. I had ripped my esophagus from all the vomiting, and every time I ate it felt like I was digesting glass, so my brain started to associate food with pain and sickness which made my brain not want me to eat. It's been a struggle. If you ever wanna talk about it, feel free to send me a DM. Good luck! 2mon
  •   bekindforlyme Oh im sorry. Thats terrible @limeforlyme I was asking because for me (all are different) switching from oral abx to IV and taking lg amounts of probiotics helped a li 2mon
  •   bekindforlyme Oops..helped a lot. I gained weight back. But then gained too much found out thyroid issue. I understand. I laid in fetal position 1.5 yrs throw up daily and felt like someone kicked me in stomach over and over. Its a lot better now. Im glad u are figuring out and hope just keeps getting better for u 2mon
  •   limeforlyme @bekindforlyme I hope things continue to get better for you too!! Actually, I couldn't say which was worse!forbne- oral or IV. Both made me so sick. The IVs were rough and they really me horriblnkgndjjbb 2mon
  •   bekindforlyme Thk u @limeforlyme its so hard to navigate all this. And then ppl tell us do so many things its overwhelming. Only thing after yrs i know for sure is not one answer for all of us. Just glad to see u gained some weight back I know its hard when so sick. You are amazing! 2mon
  •   limeforlyme @bekindforlyme thanks so much for the words of encouragement! Stay strong! 2mon
