filmtrivia Director (Alan Parker) once said that If he had gotten sick during production Jodie Foster could have taken over. Jodie was only 13 during production- a testament to her maturity◆ Parker came up with the idea for the story while driving from London to his house in Derbyshire. To keep his kids occupied, he told them this story. His son Alexander, asked why kids couldn't be the heroes◆ Bugsy Malone was Parker's first full length theatrical feature film. He had previously did one TV film & two shorts◆ Parker has also directed 2003's (The Life of David Gale), 1996's (Evita), 1998's (Mississippi Burning), 1978's (Midnight Express)◆ All of the cast members were 16 and under at the time of filming◆All the singing was dubbed by adult vocalists◆Florrie Dugger was at first only given a minor part. The original actress meant to play Blousey underwent a growth spurt and became taller than Bugsy (Scott Baio), so then (Florrie Dugger) was given the role of Blousey. The original actress ended up playing Dandy Dan's
equestrian partner who is not listed in the cast credits. Bugsy Malone is Florrie Dugger 's only acting credit◆
Florrie later joined the United States Air Force, where she had a 21 year career in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps◆This was the debut theatrical feature film of actor (Dexter Fletcher) who played Baby Face◆ When looking for Fat Sam, Parker went to a Brooklyn classroom and asked who was the naughtiest boy in class; all the class replied (John Cassisi) who subsequently got the part◆ Publicity for this picture reported that teen actress Jodie Foster at the age of thirteen was already the veteran of ten motion pictures and one television series (Paper Moon)◆

  •   filmtrivia The casting call for this picture took a whole year to complete. Parker conducted auditions for Bugsy Malone all over Britain, including RAF Lakenheath air-base in Suffolk, England, as well as in Harlem, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles. Altogether, over 10,000 youths auditioned◆ Every child actor working on the movie had to have an individual medical approval and working license. The official paperwork to allow children to work in the movie was mountainous. More than thirty-three English councils were involved as well as bureaucracy in New York and Los Angeles◆The movie's young cast was predominantly unknown actors and actresses. Some had a television credit or a bit of TV experience◆
Paul Williams wrote all the music for this film, and sang many of Scott Baio lines◆The pedal-driven cars could achieve a maximum speed of around ten miles (16 kilometers) per hour. They were all custom-built by hand and each cost around the same amount of money as a regular road-going Mini at the time◆
The splurge guns did not actually fire the "splurge". Director Alan Parker first tried wax balls filled with cream but they hurt too much. In the end the splurge guns actually fired ping pong balls, which the actors fired at nothing and what we see on-screen is clever editing between this and shots of actors being hit by handfuls of cream thrown at them by others◆ One thousand gallons of synthetic cream was used in the film by property master (John Leuenberger) The original plan was to use shaving cream but this was a ballistic failure for the splurge guns and it also smarted the eyes◆ 3mon
  •   filmtrivia The film is loosely based on Chicago events from the early 1920s to 1931 in the Prohibition era, specifically the exploits of gangsters like Al Capone and Bugs Moran◆
Jodie Foster & Scott Baio and appeared together in the 1980 film (Foxes) four years after Bugsy Malone◆Up to six teachers were on hand during production in a special full-time school at Pinewood Studios. The improvised educational facility had to handle various teaching grades and levels from students within a five year age span and also from two different countries. Head teacher (Lyn Simonon) later wrote a paper about the temp film set school◆Over a thousand custard pies were thrown during the making of the movie◆The Splurge Inc. warehouse on dock 17 was a "disused" biscuit factory◆The Chinese laundry scene was shot in an old public bath building in the East End◆ The 1929 New York street complex was the movie's main and largest set. It was built on the largest sound stage at Pinewood Studios on one meter rostrums. The massive set utilized over eighty tons of concrete which had to be poured into its foundation. Real steam was piped through its base so as to gush out of the street set's manholes. The street complex had to be a constructed set rather than a real life location as the child actors were not allowed to work at night due to regulations. As such, the set could be lit for night during daytime filming◆A Chief Local Welfare Officer visited the set every other day to check and inspect that correct procedures were being adhered to◆ Although it performed well in England and Japan, Paramount only gave "Bugsy Malone" a limited release in US theaters, usually dumping it onto second-feature screens◆ 3mon

filmtrivia In an interview, Gary Oldman counted how many different phsiychal forms he had in 1992's (Bram Stocker's Dracula)◆ (1) The old count in the red robe that invites Jonathan Harker (Keanu Reeves)
into his castle● (2) The old demonic Dracula with the golden robe that fights the 3 suiters Lord Arthur Holmwood (Cary Elwes) Quincey P. Morris (Billy Campbell), & Dr. Jack Seward (Richard E. Grant) towards the end● (3) The muscular werewolf that rapes Lucy (Sadie Frost) in the garden● (4) The giant batlike Dracula that turns into dozens of rats to escape Van Helsing (Anthony Hopkins)● (5) The young knight (Vlad Dracula) with the beard and red armor that goes off to war in the beginning of the film● (6) The young romantic Dracula with the grey suite & top hat that romances and seduces Mina (Winona Ryder)●(7) The broken hearted Dracula with brown hair and pale bat face that cries purple tears after reading a letter from Mina stating she will be marrying Jonathan Harker● (8) The mysterious coach driver who picks up Jonathan Harker (Keanu Reeves) to bring him to the castle. The coach driver is the picture you see here on this post◆ In the film, the coach drivers arm seems to extend 10 to 20 feet to grab Jonathan Harker and pull him into the carriage. Gary Oldman was sitting on a dolly while Keanu Reeves was standing on another that made it appear as if the drivers' arm extended that long◆ The blue flame that the carriage crosses over to enter the castle is mentioned in the original book. The flame is the only optical effect in the entire film. Every other effect before & after it was achieved completely "in-camera" on the set with no post-production effects work. Francis Ford Coppola was adamant about doing the entire movie with golden age techniques only.

filmtrivia Daniel Day-Lewis wanted the role of (Vincent Vega) but Quentin Tarantino turned him down in favor of John Travolta. This was one of the rare few instances where Day-Lewis was trying to get a role instead of being hunted down and begged to accept it◆ The role of Vincent Vega was originally (and exclusively) written with Michael Madsen firmly in mind. Tarantino had been working on the script for 7 months and, even though Madsen knew of Quentin's plans and had expressed his desire to play the part, two weeks before the script was completed Madsen decided instead to star as (Virgil Earp) in the film Wyatt Earp. Ironically Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction is the brother of (Mr. Blonde aka Vic Vega) played by (Michael Madsen) in Reservoir Dogs◆
Alfre Woodard, Halle Berry and Annabella Sciorra auditioned for the role of (Mia Wallace)◆Julia Louis-Dreyfus turned down the role of Mia due to her commitment to Seinfeld at the time◆Uma Thurman originally turned down the role of Mia.  Tarantino ended up reading her the script over the phone, finally convincing her to take on the role◆ Sam Jackson auditioned for the part of the guy who trains (Mr. Orange) in Reservoir Dogs, but it went to Randy Brooks. Tarantino enjoyed Jackson's audition so much that he wrote the part of (Jules) specifically for him. The role was almost given to (Paul Calderon) after a great audition. When Jackson heard this, he flew to Los Angeles and auditioned again to secure the role. Calderon ended up with a small role as (English Bob)◆The Ezekiel bible quote was taken from any early draft of (From Dusk Till Dawn) Harvey Keitel's character was supposed to say it; while walking backwards down the hallway facing the vampires◆ Tarantino got the Bible quote from the 1976 (The Bodyguard). He never read it in the Bible, and it is taken almost word for word from that film◆

  •   filmtrivia Phil LaMarr's character (Marvin) being shot in the face was his own idea that he pitched to Quentin◆ Bruce Willis was disappointed at not being signed to play (Vincent). His friend Harvey Keitel convinced him to take the part off Butch◆ The restaurant scene was filmed at the Hawthorne Grill (originally Holly's) located on Hawthorne Blvd., Hawthorne, CA. The building was demolished soon after filming◆
The orange light bulb projecting shimmering light onto the actors' faces when they open the breifcase was a decision that was added last minute◆Tarantino wrote two of the three stories of Pulp Fiction before he wrote (Reservoir Dogs) and (True Romance). After the success of those films, he decided to write a third story◆ Whenever (Vincent Vega) goes to the toilet something bad happens◆ Rosanna Arquette auditioned for Mia, but was offered the role of Jody instead◆ Mickey Rourke, Matt Dillon and Sylvester Stallone were all considered for the role of Butch◆ Michelle Pfeiffer, Daryl Hannah, Meg Ryan, Joan Cusack and Isabella Rossellini were all being considered for the role of Mia at one point◆ In 2007, the American Film Institute ranked this as the 94th Greatest Movie of All Time◆The movie cost $8 million to make, $5 million of which went to pay the actors' salaries◆Vincent leaves the diner with the book he reads while on the toilet, and it is visible when he gets shot in Butch's house◆ In a cut scene Vincent tells Mia he's been fantasizing about being beaten up by Emma Peel of The Avengers. Uma Thurman later played Emma Peel in the 1998 film The Avengers◆ The shot of Vincent plunging the syringe into Mia's chest was filmed by having John Travolta pull the needle out, then running the film backwards◆
Vincent Vega's 1964 Chevelle Malibu convertible belongs to Quentin Tarantino and was stolen during the production of the film. In 2013, a police officer saw two kids stripping an older car. He arrested them and when researching the vehicle found the VIN number had been altered. It turns out that it was the car stolen from Tarantino. The owner who had recently purchased it and had no idea it was stolen◆ 6mon
  •   filmtrivia Tarantino hesitated over the choice of playing Jimmie or Lance. He ended up choosing Jimmie because he wanted to be behind the camera in Mia's overdose scene◆Uma Thurman didn't like the song that was played in the Twist Contest and told Tarantino (it just didn't sound right) Tarantino said (Trust me, it's perfect)◆The band-aid is on the back of Marsellus Wallace's neck because Ving Rhames had a scar he wanted to cover up◆John Travolta said the most challenging thing for him was showing the essence of his character as a heroin addict since he never used the drug himself. Tarantino had Travolta research heroin addiction by speaking to a recovering heroin addict that he (Quentin) knew personally. Travolta asked Tarantino's friend to tell him how could he know what it felt like to be on heroin (without actually using it of course). Tarantino's friend explained "If you want to get the 'bottom envelope' feeling of that, get plastered on Tequila, and lie down in a hot pool. Then you will have barely touched the feeling of what it might be like to be on heroin." Travolta told his wife so she joined him at the hotel hot tub which had shots of Tequila lined from end to end on the railings to assist him in his "research"◆
The cab driver, Esmeralda Villalobos (Angela Jones) appeared in a 1991 thirty minute short called (Curdled) in which she played a character who cleaned up after murders. This makes her fascinated by the idea of murder. Quentin Tarantino saw this film and decided to include this character in 'Pulp Fiction' but as a cabdriver◆Butch was responsible for keying Vincent's car◆The man who burst from the bathroom in Brett's apartment was played by Robert Arquette (whose sister, Rosanna Arquette, played Jody). However he is listed in the credits as Alexis Arquette, the name he later adopted following a sex change◆ 6mon
  •   filmtrivia The dance that John Travolta and Uma Thurman perform at Jack Rabbit Slims was copied, movement by movement, from the dance performed by Barbara Steele and
Mario Pisu in the 1963 film (8½) Directed by Federico Fellini◆
Jules's character was originally written to have a gigantic afro, but a crewmember obtained a variety of afro wigs and one jheri curl wig. Tarantino had never thought about a jheri curl wig, but Sam Jackson tried it on, Tarantino liked it, and it was kept◆ Tarantino wrote "The Wolf" character specifically for Harvey Keitel◆Marsellus and Mia never actually speak to one another on-screen, even though they are husband and wife◆ Some of the scenes of (Jimmie Dimmick) were directed by Robert Rodriguez◆
Mia and Vincent never won the trophy at the Jack Rabbit Slim's, they actually stole it. When Butch is sneaking back to his apartment for his watch you can hear a story on his neighbours TV talking about it◆
The parts of "Honey Bunny" and "Pumpkin" were written specifically for Amanda Plummer and Tim Roth◆
Pam Grier auditioned for the role of Lance's wife Jody. Though she had a great audition, Tarantino decided not to cast her because he could not imagine Grier getting pushed around the way the character does◆ The characters Zed and Maynard are brothers◆Julia Sweeney (Raquel) and Stephen Hibbert (the Gimp) were married in real life at the time◆James Gandolfini was considered for the role of Vincent Vega◆Tri Star executives wanted Gary Oldman to play Lance◆ When Vincent first walks into Mia's house, one of the back doors is slightly open so the camera wouldn't be seen in the reflection◆
In the opening sequence with Honey Bunny and Pumpkin, Jules can be heard talking about quitting "the life", and Vincent can be seen entering the bathroom◆ 6mon

radioactive_reviews There has been a rumor going around about a ghostbusters reboot for a while now, but it is now confirmed. To avoid the dead-horse beating that would take place if they used the 80-year-old (and one fourth dead) original cast there is now a new ghostbusters. They will all be played by women now, and it will either be a reboot or a half-sequel. The director will be Paul Feig, who is known for co-creating Freaks and Geeks (amazing) bridesmaids (pretty good movie) and Tammie (shit). So it's a mixed bag as far as that. I think it might be good, most people are angry. Written by @nicktotaro10.

lololovesfilms #TheBoyNextDoor is so, so, so stinking awful. Like, shouldn't have been made awful. No offense to #JLo, but her movie career straight-up sucks. The entire point of this movie is null and void with #RyanGuzman's character's age. Ugh. SO BAD. Our rating: 1/10 (AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!) We had fun writing this review, so check it out by clicking the link in our bio, or go to: http://bit.ly/1K7hheX
