leighannebraderphotography Apple trees are blossoming at the farm. Want to plan a session with me but don't have a good location in mind? Our farm is one of my favorite spots to shoot. I can't wait for summer sessions here. 6d

furnaceroadfarm We have gotten lots of new followers recently (it must be the adorable ducks, or the amazing coop Brandon built!) so I thought I'd introduce us again.
Furnace Road Farm is a small 6 acre homestead in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. We love our little slice of country in the city and are just 10 minutes from downtown Baltimore! We didn't think our farm would take off as quickly as it did, but we are loving every crazy minute of it. Our goal is to become more and more self sufficient over the years, resulting in less waste and less money spent at the grocery store.
Here is a little more about each of us:

Brandon - Builder extraordinaire, Farmer, tattoo enthusiast. He knows how to do just about everything and owns and runs ARC Contracting, our residential construction company.
Ashley - Farmer Lady , loves to learn new things, lover of kids and animals, future gardener, chicken lady, homeschooling mom of the farmhands. I'm the one behind the camera around here! I also keep the books for our business when I'm not doing everything else

Emma, Jack, Ella, Will - the farmhands we raised ourselves . They love exploring, playing with the animals, and tying things to the back of their toy jeep.
Lucy - the farm dog. She's a purebred black lab

We currently have 10 #blacksexlink and 10 #amberlink chickens, 4 #nubianboargoats , and 3 little ducklings.
We love our farm and are thankful to have been blessed with it after many difficult years of caring for our extended families. God is good. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

ticklebellyfarm This is something I repeat to myself again and again. Starting our CSA on a farm that we've been basically building from scratch is a challenge. Progress is always being made, but it's only with lots of hard work and constant problem solving. I know so many of you can relate! The biggest reason I love Instagram is the constant inspiration, goals I can see others reaching that push us further along in terms of motivation. Cheers to hard working Mondays! #ticklebellyfarm #csa #marylandfarm #startsmall #monday 3w

furnaceroadfarm It may have snowed a tiny bit this morning, but I'm not letting that stop me from planning our first garden!
I knew I wanted to do something that would be fun for the kids while also getting our feet wet with vegetable gardening. I'm diving in with plans for a full out pizza garden (that will be shaped like a pizza! How fun is that!). I'm hoping to do tomatoes, peppers, onion, herbs, zucchini, spinach and arugula in the actual "pizza". Then outside of that I want to include space for potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, a small watermelon patch, green beans and strawberries. Now that I have it all written out it sounds totally crazy! Haha. Wish me luck (and feel free to give me all the advice!!)

My resources are The Backyard Homestead, The Vegetable Gardeners Bible, Mini Farming, and Roots Shoots Buckets and Boots.
