cinemaddix Alright. Real talk. There have been numerous occasions where people between the ages of 18 and 35 have looked at me blankly when I ask if they've seen It's a Wonderful Life (1946)... this is completely unacceptable. As a human being of this earth, you MUST have seen this cinematic artwork AT LEAST once. No exceptions. At all. Ever. I'm not going to even give my opinion of the film or what it's about because you should already know, and if you don't, then that'll be enough incentive to finally watch it. The only thing I will say is that 1. It's best watched in its original black and white format and 2. This film is one of the most influential and well done films of all time. Now, get going! #JamesStewart #DonnaReed #ItsAWonderfulLife #LionelBarrymore #ThomasMitchell #ClassicFilms #Movies #Classic #Classics 6h

the_movie_freak Since I loved Birdman so much I wanted to watch another that had a similar formula so without further delay let's review Hitchcock's Rope. Rope is directed by Alfred Hitchcock, it stars James Stewart, John Dall, and Farley Granger. Now before watching the film I wasn't really expecting much Roger Ebert said it sort of failed and Alejandro González Iñárritu said it was a mediocre plot and I disagree on both opinions. Rope was a spectacular movie and I loved it. This is the film that mainly inspired movies like Birdman and other movies that have very long tracking shots. From the beginning to the end I was on the edge of my seat some of you may say it was boring but your wrong and you should probably stop watching Michael Bay movies. Rope was nothing but incredible written dialogue line after line. The whole movie took place in the apartment of Dall and Granger and I felt suspense and intensity in just the little room. The film felt like a play, it was adapted from a English play and they should reopen the play and put it on broadway I would buy a ticket for sure. Now let's talk about the tracking shot and the cinematography. It wasn't entirely filmed in one shot, Hitchcock used 10 minutes of film which was basically only eight takes since it was only eighty minutes which went by so fast. It amazes me how the final cut came out since in the forties cameras Weren't as flexible as today. There was probably one visible cut and that was in the first minute. Hitchcock was a risk taker he would make these experiments in film and it would turn out great. Now let's talk about the only flaw I had and that's the performances. Now I don't mean by James Stewart he is always awesome but I'm mainly talking about Farley Granger someone could have played him a lot better and less confused, but that is my only flaw. So overall Rope was the first feature length tracking shot and I feel like after the success of Birdman it would be constantly used now. But Rope is underrated and definitely deserves a watch so I'm giving Rope an A- #rope #Alfredhitchcock #hitchcock #birdman #moviereview #jamesstewart #filmreview #review #filmbuff #moviecritic #cinema #theater #play #broadway #film 6h
