yellowlabrador100 101/365. Folding. I have decided (with much relief) that this will be Thing 2's last year in Saturday morning Chinese School. As a not-very-Chinese-fluent family in a school intended for fluent families, we've hung on for as long as we both can, content-wise and endurance-wise. The homework, tests, and time commitment have really taxed us. Yet, we fought on because I really thought it important for Thing 2 as an adoptee to have some familiarity with his Taiwanese birth culture. Sadly, with his wobbly Mandarin, he'll probably never blend in in Taiwan. But, at least he'll have a foundation on which to build. And, as he grows older and seeks to define himself vis a vis his local Asian-American peers (many of whom are immigrant's kids enrolled in Chinese school), he can find common ground in having also attended. There is solidarity in shared suffering. #chineseschool, #asianamerican, #taiwan, #taiwanese, #culture, #bw, #silhouette, #shadows, #lightinspired, #my_365, #jd365project, #m4hp365, #our_everyday_moments, #iphoneographt, #vsco, #mobile_snaps_collaborative, #thebloomforum, #theendisnear 1w

missnjc "Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper." 1 Kings‬ ‭19‬:‭11-12‬ 6mon
