catcouturier My best friend was murdered shortly before her 25th birthday. It was a random act committed by an evil person. The last time I saw her, she commented on how much she loved this keychain some car website had given as a promotion. One of the last times I emailed her, I talked about how much it hurt to lose Napster. #intheseboxes 2mon
  •   awagsyogasport Wow that is so sad :( 2mon
  •   catcouturier Unfortunately @awagsyogasport, I got a million of 'em. Don't like to talk about the depressing stuff but it's for a collaborative art project. Also, better to have loved and lost and blah blah blah. 2mon

catcouturier My father died when I was 29 from a cancer that he chose not to fight. He was a teacher of literature and history, and my mother gave me his first collection of Shakespeare when she started getting rid of his things. It had been stored in the attic, so the pages are brittle from age and mold, and the covers have all but fallen apart. But still I keep them. #InTheseBoxes 2mon

  •   guillermo_812 I'm sorry to disagree, Maria. I do understand that something like how a loss affects one is purely individual. A lady who has had no children and has no other family may react much worse to the death of an old feline companion than let's say a daughter who has seen her dad go through much chemo and surgeries and who realizes he is no longer in pain. Our abilities to deal with pain, sorrow, and loss is also individual However ... 4mon
  •   mmgemmy @guillermo_812 I understand what you are saying, Peter. I, however, do not feel it is right to assume the loss I feel for my son is greater than the loss another may be feeling over an ailing aunt/grandparent/parent etc... 4mon
  •   guillermo_812 The death of a child tests our abilities ... It's something unexpected. It's the death of a part of us ... A good and innocent part of us with tremendous potential. This is MY greatest fear! I am a pediatric specialist who has stood next to grieving families as these innocents are taken up to Heaven. I have been affected. I have witnessed the effect on families. It is horrible ... It is unfair ... But ultimately it brings us face to face with questions of meaning and questions of a higher power ... The possibility that while we don't have answers, perhaps that Higher Power does. No matter how short the life, it leaves ripples that may affect hundreds of other lives. 4mon
  •   mmgemmy @guillermo_812 you are so right.... 4mon
  •   danielaskywalker @mmgemmy gemmy ., I so appreciate your posts and I found myself feeling more sorrow than I ever anticipated for someone I've never met in person over your loss... But I feel like I understand your pictures and I also understand your grief. A true artist you are. But no matter what. Your son was and is an amazing gift ... Love on always and always xxooooo 4mon
  •   mmgemmy @danielaskywalker You are an amazing friend. Thank you so much for all you said. Much love to you and yours! 4mon
  •   jqyike As I look at your photos today, I feel a glimmer of who you are through the window of your pictures. I will be thinking and praying for you as I go through my day. I cannot imagine the grief you must feel. But as a mom myself, I hurt for you whom I've never met. Thank you for sharing your story... 4d
  •   mmgemmy Thank you for your kind words, they mean so much @jqyike 4d
