rawsynergy Barefoot walking - I'm addicted! In the last year I've been more consistent with this exercise than I have been with any other. I walk 2 to 3 miles, 4 to 5 days a week. I crave the feeling of the earth's healing surface beneath my feet. It's a connection unlike any other. I started out slow, walking short distances and worked my way up to longer distances over time. Now, I can sprint short distances. I used to have so many issues with my feet. At one point, I was stuck wearing nothing but athletic shoes for 2 whole years with expensive orthotics. I never would've believed I'd be walking and running barefoot today. I get lots of odd looks from people and quite a few questions, which I'm always happy to answer. It's a very meditative practice because you really have to focus on where your feet are landing. You should never strike the ground with your heel. Try to land more gently on the ball of your foot letting your heel follow to avoid injury. It takes some adjustment to learn how to walk properly. Fortunately I've only stepped on glass once, and it was close to home. The nice thing about barefoot walking is you heal very quickly and I was back to walking in shoes the next day, and barefoot the day after. Walking on dirt, grass, sand or concrete allows your body to absorb the earth's healing energy. If any of these surfaces are wet or moist, the healing connection is even more powerful. That's why walking along the shoreline at the beach always feels so healing and refreshing!   •   reenluvsgreens I've been wanting to walk barefoot on the snow as it's been snowing here like every two weeks! But am a little self conscious about it as it's near the highway (not that anyone is around aside from passing cars!!!) haha I'll get over it as I found a pathway away from the cars.
