smile_starter The following was duly read in today's memorial service: "They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, or the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest we forget." Instead of thinking about Gallipoli, I thought of the lyrics - Lest I forget Gethsemane, Lest I forget Thy agony, Lest I forget Thy love for me, Lead me to Calvary. And that because He has won The Greatest Victory, over death, sin and the grave, one day we soldiers of the cross shall never grow old! ♡

reeni3 I think a large part of our little town turned up this morning to the Anzac Day Dawn Service. A wonderful show of respect. ~ Lest We Forget ~

  •   2tailsbluelilac @pootydog2013 @annemacd1234 my Grandfather fought in World War 1 13h
  •   mymrfrodo I am unsure if any in my family fought in WWI, but they did in the Spanish-American War and in WWII and Vietnam. 12h
  •   2tailsbluelilac I found my Grandfathers records online it's absolutely fascinating as he never spoke to us (grandkids) about the War I knew he was wounded but never understood how. He was a Gunner and the Guns were Huge it rolled back onto him and he had to have partial amputation of his right foot and leg @mymrfrodo @pootydog2013 @barbaram933 @albusgreybeard @annemacd1234 War is not to be Celebrated but We Honour them for their Sacrifices so we may be free 11h
  •   mymrfrodo @2tailsbluelilac - the NARA facility that held my fathers records was set on fire on 1972 by rioters protesting Vietnam. His service record was partially burned, so I have on my memories as to how he served. He was a combat medic and then an MP in Occupied Japan. He came home in April 1946. 11h

  •   annemacd1234 so many amazing stories. i went with my sister to the exhibition in Melbourne from the Imperial War Museum of London lady weekend. it left me with the overwhelming feeling that if it's come to war, we've all failed miserably. apparently more people died in the first 4-7 mths of WW1 than in 4 years of the American Civil war, and that was 3/4 of a million. 11h

donnagraves3 This has been a tough week for many reasons. It symbolizes the loss of relationships through out the years and this year is no different. One major relationship loss was my Dad. Today, he has been gone for 20 years. We miss his wisdom, knowledge and love everyday. Despite the years that have passed the loss is still there. We know he is having a great time playing music with Mom and all the friends. We will all be together one day. We think about you and Mom everyday and miss you more than you will ever know. Love you to the moon and back. #inremembrance #staystrong #deepinthought #family #faith #greatmen #hope #love #nostrongerbondthanaparent #missingsomeone 14h
