ianaberle Doors to the Guadalupe.

The doors and entrance to the Cathedral Santuario de Guadalupe (Cathedral Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe) in Dallas, Texas.

Why do we not make entrances like this anymore?

etxtraveler A portrait of peacefulness under the pines captured yesterday by our photo friend Kristi Mears Thomas at Lake O' the Pines. Thanks Kristi!

Lake O Pines is a great little vacation spot in the Cypress River Basin, 25 miles northeast of Longview, Texas.
Happy Thursday from east Texas y'all!

etxtraveler This is the 103 east bridge in Etoil, Texas. Our friend, Christina Cox has the pleasure of taking this beauty in every morning as the sun rises. Thanks for sharing Chritina!

A wee bit of History: Originally named Macedonia or (Macedona Springs) Etoile, Texas sits between the Angelina and the Attoyac rivers 20 miles south of Nacogdoches and 19 miles east of Lufkin.

In 1886 the tiny town had grown enough to apply for a post office - it was granted under the name of Etoile. It is said, that the townspeople chose the name because it is "star" in French. I can't speak French but, I've heard folks say "joie de vivre" - the joy of living....
So, this is definitely the joie de vivre in Texas!
